on 8/8/2006 Free throws, along with many other shots, are much easier to pull off at the basketball hoop where you practice. The familiarity makes it easier to judge the distance to the basket. So if you are having trouble beating a friend at school, challenge him/her to play on your field, and victory will be a lot more achievable.

on 6/11/2007 Some people are jumping while taking a free throw shot. It's a bad habit because: 1. It means you don't do it right. When shooting correctly there is no need for jumping. 2. It's harder to aim while in the air. Shooting from the ground is a lot easier.

on 6/11/2007 If you shoot with your right hand, put your right foot on the center of the free throw line and vice versa. Doing this will allow your ball to go in the direction you want it to go. This gives you more accuracy.

on 6/30/2006 One thing I do is develop a routine. You do this every time you go to the line. I dribble three times, spin the ball backwards, then shoot! It helps take you mind off everything else!

on 11/22/2005 Concentrate. Do the steps. Focus.

Step 1 is to bend your knees. People bend their knees, but they don't know how to use it. As you shoot, push your knees at the same time as you shoot, it will give you power so your shot will be more accurate. Look at the rim. Do the steps. When you're about to let it go, fling the ball in the middle of the rim so it's more accurate.

on 12/12/2005 Every net and ball is different. Example; If you have a more bouncy ball, then arch your shot a little, most of the time a bouncier ball is a lighter ball. Another example, if the height of the net is shorter than what you usually play with, then don't use too much power.

on 11/22/2005 Relax! Don't tense up. That way, your shot will flow smoother, and your touch will be a lot softer. Remember to let your shot flow from your fingertips; don't force the ball up.

on 6/11/2007 Relax, aim at three cylinders of the rim, bend your knees, bend your elbow slightly, then extend your elbow and flick you wrist.

on 11/22/2005 Get balanced and get in your normal shooting stance. Then, bounce the ball a couple of times, take a deep breath and shoot the ball softly, barely try to get it in (you don't want to overshoot it). Try to get in the inner part of the rim. Barely tap it in and you will make that beautiful swish noise and the whole stadium will go crazy when they hear it!

on 11/22/2005 Keep your right foot pointed toward the basket. Shoot up, not forward, and stay calm.

on 11/22/2005 When shooting a free throw, use your head! Release the ball up in the air and aim your head toward the ball and toward the rim. You will shoot perfectly.
