on 11/22/2005 I was at work once and had an enormous bug bite that wouldn't stop itching. I didn't have any creams or vinegar so I simply put a piece of Scotch tape over the bite! It sounds silly, but it worked! It stopped itching immediately and when I took the tape off a few hours later, the swelling had gone.

on 11/22/2005 My son had a horribly itchy welt from a mosquito near his waistband. The only thing I could find to soothe it in my cabinet was Orajel (used to numb baby's gums). In a minute the itch was gone and lasts for hours. It's the lidocaine that numbs so well.

on 11/22/2005 Take fingernail polish and put a little on the bite. Once it dries, the bite stops itching. Make sure you use clear polish.

on 11/22/2005 To rid yourself of mosquito bites use these helpful steps:
1) Apply Off before an outing
2) Put eggs, meat, cheese, and baking soda in a blender and apply the mixture to the bite.
3) If you do not get results in 2 days, you didn't do it right - so put Absorbine Jr. on the bite.

on 6/11/2007 You can do this with lit incense, a cigarette, a lighter, a moxa stick or anything that is very hot and has a small surface (the size of the bite or smaller). Hold the hot item as close as you can to the bite for as long as you can stand it. Slap the bite until it no longer burns, repeat this 3-4 times. I have no idea where I learned this, but have used it for as long as I can remember and it works.

on 11/22/2005 If you paint your mosquito bite with clear nail polish, it stops the itching. You can use a nail polish with color, if you don't mind colored dots all over you.

on 11/22/2005 Can't sleep because of itchy mosquito bites? Dab a bit of clay-based facial mask on a bite and allow it to dry. During the day, use Benadryl extra strength itch relief or itch stopping cream.

on 11/22/2005 After you have been bitten, spray the bite with Victoria's Secret body spray. The swelling, itching and stinging goes away. I am sure it is just the alcohol, so any body spray will help (it smells good, too). Try it, you will be surprised.

on 11/22/2005 I find applying something cold to the bites work really well. It is especially good for those hot summer days where you're looking for a way to cool of anyway. I also find that Vick's VapoRub makes a good repellent. If you DEET your clothes and hat, you can put the Vick's around your hairline, hands and ankles. It will keep mosquitoes away from those exposed areas very well.

on 6/11/2007 Immediately after being bitten, take a hot shower using the hottest water you can tolerate. You may start with warm water and gradually reduce the cool water flow. A steamy, scalding hot shower always works for me, and is especially effective for multiple bites.

on 11/22/2005 After first applying rubbing alcohol to the bite, apply facial Mudd mask, as this will draw out toxins. As a gardener, I have been exposed to many bites (including spider bites), and this remedy always works.

on 11/22/2005 In Vietnam, you can purchase a cream called Soffell. It contains citronella. The mosquitoes hate citronella, and this cream appears to work (especially for me). I apply it before dusk, but if I am overseas, I put it on 3 times a day. It contains natural ingredients and has a nice smell.
