Return to article: How to Remove Unsightly Facial Hair
on 12/27/2007 since the age of 14 i realised i started growing dark facial hair on both sides of ma cheeks.Im scared to use facial cream and to wax it inacase it leaves permant marks or any discolouration to my face.I want to get rid of the facial hair permanently fo rgood because it is very noticable, what would you recommend is the best treatment for me?
on 12/16/2006 Threading facial hair is good because the re-growth is slower and in time finer, but you need to find someone to do it for you and can cost a bit everytime it's done. I use eze-tweeze instead which is like threading only you do it yourself and I don't get the spots afterwards like I did with threading.
on 8/8/2006 I lost my eyelashes due to stress and baby oil (which I used to remove makeup). I went to the eye Doctor and he told me to use baby shampoo on them. I now get more complements on my eyelashes. They are thicker and longer than they ever were before. It has been three years, and I still follow his advice. 1. Wash eyes with very warm water.2. Put some baby shampoo on a Q-tip or your fingertip. 3. Massage for about a minute and rinse well. You will see results in about a week.
on 8/8/2006 While holding tweezers in one hand, use the index finger of your other hand to pull the skin tight in the opposite direction you are tweezing from. This makes the hair come out much much easier with less pain for your pluck!
on 3/29/2006 If you want to keep the perfect eyebrows, here is a trick:Get a mascara application brush from mascara you no longer use. Clean it off, completely. (Run under hot water, using fingers rubbing up and down on the brush--ensures that all mascara is gone). Use the brush and comb upward. Pluck any hairs that are stray. If the hairs are long, get a little pair of scissors and trim them. If you don't, it will look like you over-tweezed. *If you have over plucked and you want the hair to grow back, apply Vitamin E Oil to the over plucked area. The hair will grow much faster. It may be a little thick, but it is worth it and it works! It is cheap too!
on 3/20/2006 When I use a cream to remove my facial hair, I look wonderful for about a week or two, until it starts to grow back. As it grows back, I get ingrown hairs and my skin breaks out for several months or longer.
on 1/9/2008 I have some of those unfeminine under-the-chin hairs. Tweezing was not a good option because positioning was difficult and time consuming. I bought an Emjoi hair remover and now call it a miracle worker. It is like a super-tweezer. A few passes over my my chin and I'm completely hairless. They cost around $100, but can be found for a fifth of that on Ebay.
on 11/22/2005 Try an old Indian method of hair removal called "threading." This involves a twisted piece of special cotton that pulls even very fine hairs directly from the root. It is quick and less painful than waxing! It is also extremely precise thus making it one of the best ways to shape eyebrows. Regrowth is much slower and finer than other forms of hair removal.
on 11/22/2005 I recently started using Vaniqa (you need a prescription for it). I find that if I use some sort of hair removal cream once a month, and use Vaniqa everyday, it keeps the hair away! The stuff really works, and most doctors don't mind prescribing it.
on 11/22/2005 I've noticed that I'm one of those women whose skin becomes very sensitive a few days before my period. Tweezing is just one of the things I don't do at that time, despite warm towels, alcohol, ice, and whatever else you could throw at me, it hurts. So I've gotten into the habit to try to tweeze as much as possible before just the time, so I could go the few days without tweezing.
on 11/22/2005 Use Ora-gel or Baby Ora-gel on the area you would like to tweeze the hair from. The Ora-gel acts as a temporary numbing agent, much as it does on your gums, to help relieve the pain caused from tweezing.
on 11/22/2005 Tweeze your eyebrows in the car during the day. The natural light works best for getting every little unwanted hair. Also, you will always have a mirror handy.
on 11/22/2005 Make sure that you grip the hair firmly near the base and pull firmly in the direction that the hair is growing.
on 11/22/2005 To tweeze brows, use an alcohol-soaked swab to clean the area. This removes oils that make the hairs harder to grip. Also, make sure to tweeze in a well-lighted place. Pluck close to the root of hair but avoid catching skin, as it may cause scarring.
on 11/22/2005 Put a warm towel over your face before you pluck; this enlarges the pores so it isn't as painful.
