on 3/20/2008 When I was quite young my mother taught me how to cook asparagus; cut the ends off bluntly and cook till soft and mushy... not very tasty and you just couldn't cook it enough to soften up the woody ends. When I got a little older, early teen years I believe, I learned a new way from my aunt; snap the ends off to eliminate the woody part and cook just enough to get a very tasty and beautiful green colored delight. I much prefer my aunt's method of preparation. I sprinkle mine with lemon herb seasoning, a little butter and microwave steam for about 3 minutes. I'm glad to see others snap their asparagus too.

on 3/20/2008 Great advice! I have shied away from cooking asparagus because I wasn't really sure how to prepare it. Thank you!

on 3/19/2008 I use my grilling skillet, drizzle a bit of extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkle asparagus with a bit of salt, pepper and garlic. I really don't care for ginger or sesame oil on them. Grilling in a skillet is REALLY easy and nummy. : )

on 3/18/2008 Mmmm, yum. My favorite way is roasting them with lemon juice, olive oil, chopped shallots and salt and pepper.

on 10/28/2007 Good video except instead of steps they should of said styles or something else.

on 5/30/2007 I saw a great asparagus recipe on a TV food show. She wrapped about 5 asparagus stalks with one slice of bacon, and then broiled them in the oven. They looked delicious!

I did something very stupid. Very important to read directions carefully. I decided to prepare and stir-fry my Asparagus for 10 minutes in oil.....my end results were woody crunchy flat leef stalks. Taste was great. Appearance terrible. Next time I'll read recipe- donors comments *

on 12/19/2005 Start off by cleaning the asparagus and chopping off 1 inch at the bottom of the stalks. Then place the asparagus in a casserole dish and fill 1/2 way with water to cover.
Cook in microwave for 3-5 minutes until the stalks are soft. Remove from microwave, discard water, then add chopped garlic, butter, salt and pepper. Then add a few lemon slices and bake in oven at 400 degrees for 10-20 minutes. Once ready, take out and sprinkle with grated cheese.

on 11/22/2005 I eat grilled asparagus at least twice a week. I simply drizzle a little olive oil over it, add some spices (I prefer pepper, garlic powder and fresh thyme) lay it right across the grill and cook until tender. For me it can be an entire meal! Another option would be to get a grilling basket to avoid dropping stalks through the slats.

on 11/22/2005 After trimming the ends of the stalks, marinate in a mixture of olive oil, minced garlic, and balsalmic vinegar. Add other seasonings to taste.

on 4/13/2007 Wash, then cut off hard ends of asparagus. Cover bottom of long glass pan with water, put in asparagus, cover with saran, microwave on high for 8 minutes per pound. Great!

on 11/22/2005 Put the asparagus in a shallow dish with Itaian salad dressing microwave one minute at a time until it's done. Skinnier stalks take less time than larger ones.
