Return to article: How to Use False Eyelashes
on 11/22/2006 There is advice and lashes to buy at www.eyebeauty.co.uk
on 12/12/2005 I use the little clumps of lashes, I think they give my eye a more natural look. The short ones are way long enough for day time wear. I apply them spaced out, like 3 on an eye, spaced out and then let them dry for a few minutes while I work on something else. I go back and fill in the spaces with another set. I do this until I achieve the look I want. Make sure you trim your lashes, especially the ones nearest your inner eye.
on 11/22/2005 I have had to wear false eyelashes for various plays and different performances. They are really easy to stick on. Get them as close as possible to your natural lash line, so you don't have a gap. Adjust them so they look right (with a pair of tweezers or something). Cover the eyelash line with a black liquid liner for an effect that makes them appear to be your natural lashes. Also brush a single coat of black or clear mascara over them to make them blend better. Make sure you get them on the right eye! Some sets have a right eye set and the left being fuller on the outsides than the insides, simply because that's the way your eyelashes naturally grow. Make sure you know which set of lashes go to which eye if you plan on reusing them! It's really easy and shouldn't take you more than maybe 10 minutes to apply them.
on 11/22/2005 Having admired Jessica's doe-eyes look for some time, I decided to give fake eyelashes a shot before a dinner with friends in NYC. I loved the effect and it was so easy. It took me just 15 minutes! I took full (not too long) eyelashes and cut them in half and attached them toward the outer corners of my eyes. The effect was great. I bypassed the mascara, but I did use black liner along the top of my lids, at the eyelash base, and drew toward the inner corner of my eye.
on 11/22/2005 Trim false eyelashes before putting them on. I do this with the individual false eyelashes. They always appeared too long, even using the short style. They looked so much better and more natural. Trim them just a little bit. Make sure you don't use a straight cut. A slight angle snip to each lash is worth it.
on 11/22/2005 I just tried to use the individual clumps and I about lost my mind! They are way hard but I didn't even bother buying the full lashes because they look too fake. Try putting a small dot of glue on foil. Use good tweezers with a strong grasp. Don't breath, and press firmly into your lash line for 7 seconds. DON'T TOUCH for a minute! They looked great, and took me about an hour!
on 1/9/2008 Lash clumps are difficult to remove, particularly if you use a waterproof glue. There are products designed to dissolve eyelash glue, but I suggest you try petroleum jelly. This usually loosens the lashes so that they can be removed with warm water.
