I trained my cats to go to the potty on the toilet and when they were on the last stage, the littler of the two decided to have a pissfest in my living room. I found a simple method to remove the cat pee. Get: An iron that steams A bucket of cold soapy water (don't use hot the steam makes it hotter) A towel Soak the towel and wring it out so its damp. Place it over the area to be treated. Steam the crap out of it. Wring it out and repeat You have to give the iron time to heat back up so it can be a little time consuming, but I shoved my nose in the spot and checked it with a black light and its gone.

In a household with 6 cats, accidents can often happen. I've tried numerous fragrances, air freshners and deodorizer's over the years to get rid of odors caused by my cats. So far, the one that has worked best for me is the Pet Stain Remover and Deodorizer from www.gonzocorp.com. And this product actually DOES REMOVE the odor, it does not simply cover it up for a little while. It's very affordable, and I recommend it as a good investment for pet lovers.

Mix a large bottle of rubbing alcohol with a bit of water - put into a watering can and sprinkle over the urine spot (do a test patch first to be sure your carpet won't discolor - mine did not on two different carpets). Douse the spot well so the carpet pad underneath is soaked as well. Let dry overnight and do not let the cat near this area until completely dry. Spot clean, once dry, with handheld carpet cleaning machine.
The rubbing alcohol evaporates with the urine. Nature's Miracle is primarily made up of Isopropyl Alcohol - same thing. The rubbing alcohol does smell strong at first, but not after it's dry. This is a very cheap way to fix the problem.

I tried several brands of enzymes and urine removers, soaked the carpet, pad, etc. . .a year later the smell but not the stain was still there. My secret: anti-icky poo brand cleanser sold at my vet--smell gone in a few weeks :)

The only true way to make sure your clothes are not covered in cat hair and smell like cat pee is to get rid of the cat(s) and replace the damaged items. (Understand the the "cat lover" in your house may have to go too...)

I've now tried almost everything and have found one thing that works, but is taking drastic measures.
1. Rip the carpet and pad back.
2. Pour straight bleach on the floor.
3. Put a very small amount of dish detergent on a scrub brush and brush the bleached floor.
4. Let sit for about 5 minutes.
5. Clean excess bleach mixture off floor with old towels.
Use a bleach, water, Dawn mixture and scrub the bottom and top of the carpet and let dry.
Flip carpet and padding back into it's original spot.
If it starts to smell again, cut the padding out where it's stained and repeat the bleaching steps above.
And if it still starts to smell again, cut the carpet out and replace with new carpet.

One solution to a cat peeing is to use Feliway Cat Pheromones. You plug it in to a wall socket close to where he is peeing. It induces relaxation in the cat. Humans cannot smell it. I moved into a townhome complex with lots of cats who pee'ed in my carpet corners. My male cat got mad and pee'ed over their pee. I had the mess to clean up. I used Feliway right at the entrance to the apt, and every cat passing near it, relaxed completely and even my cat stopped his bad habits. It was pretty impressive. Works great on stressed out cats after moving house, or new pet/ baby in the house, or cat getting older... Also, make sure your cat litter box is clean and unscented!!! Cats have sensitive noses. Watch your cat when he uses litter box and note any problems. Give him a raw food diet and enzymes from www.goodpet.com. See raw recipe on their website. Commercial food is very bad.

What do you do if your cats are peeing in the same corner, and now the drywall is stinky? I already ripped up one peice of carpet at the stair landing, and am afraid to replace for fear they will pee on it again, after removing that, they wnt to the second landing of the stairs, and started peeing there. I don't know who is doing it, or if they all are. Tjought about setting up my cam corder to catch the criminal in the act!

This stuff works incredibly well. My aunt introduced me to this natural Pet Odor Eliminator. I have 2 cats and a dog and they all occasionally forget where to use the bathroom so I have relied on this product to clean the pee and get rid of the smell. It's a really good price too. One day I had a little gathering at my house. I noticed that Mittens (That's my cutesie wootsie kitty cat) had urinated on my new eggshell white/ creme de uevos carpet! I was rather disturbed with what Mittens had done. I grabbed him up and started to rub his nose in it. Before I even lifted him up, I noticed that it was actually a leak in the ceiling that caused the spot! I laughed so hard I peed my pants. Needless to say, I left quite a spot on the carpet. One guest at the party (Jimmy) immediately rubbed my nose in it and beat me with a newspaper. Talk about instant karma!

on 2/9/2009 Do not put bleach on any kind of urine! Urine is a form of ammonia. Bleach and ammonia are two chemicals that should NEVER be mixed.
