on 12/19/2008 Last night my 5 year old daughter came to me with a giant wad of gum stuck in her gorgous strawberry blonde hair. I didn't think there was anyway around cutting it, but the oil worked like magic! I'm happy to report she looks gorgous again!

on 11/6/2008 I used the olive oil method after someone on my bus thought it would be funny to stick gum in my hair. Luckily, it was near the bottom and I managed to get most of it out on the way home, but not all. First I tried ice, but not for very long and it didn't seem to be working. Who knows, it might have if I had left it on longer. My mom then put olive oil on my hair, and I let it sit for a few minutes, then my mom just combed it straight out. I recommend olive (or some kind) of oil and a comb. Good luck!! :-)

on 11/6/2008 Someone on my bus thought it would be funny to stick gum in my hair on the way home from school today. Fortunately, it was at the bottom of my hair and I managed to get most of it out. Of course there was nothing more I could do about it until I got home about a half hour later. First I tried ice, but not for very long and it wasn't working too well. Maybe it would have if we kept at it I don't know. People kept telling me to use peanut butter, but I also saw good stuff about olive oil online so I tried that instead. My mom put some olive oil on my hair around the gum and I left it on for a few minutes. Then my mom used a comb on it and it pretty much just slid right out. Go with olive oil and a good comb. Good luck :)

on 11/3/2008 OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! The olive oil worked like a miracle. I tried the hot vinegar, but all it did was get soft and made a mess. I then tried the olive oil, it made it disappear like a miracle. Then washed the hair with dawn and ready to go.....

on 8/5/2007 I just got done using olive oil to get gum out of my son's hair. Worked like a charm. While cleaning it out, I asked if he had learned anything from this. He replied, "Next time I stick gum on my forehead, I'll move my hair out of the way." Hilarious.

on 6/30/2007 Well My daughter woke up this morning with a glob of Stride gum in her hair and my immediate thought was "we have to cut it." I logged on here and saw some ideas that didn't include cutting hair. I tried the olive oil method and it worked within minutes!!! Thank you for all your help...now my daughter doesn't have to have 6 inches cut off of her long, beautiful hair!!!

on 6/20/2007 Olive oil- ice sucks, made it worse. and please don't use chemicals on your childs head. thats NOT safe! but anyways... olive oil works great. just put some in the spot where the gum is and it will eventually slide out. then take a shower and SHABAM! its gone.
