use the ice method, then a mild cleaner - wax has an oil in it, and mild soap and water (like dish detergent) should take it off once the hard wax is gone.

For wooden surfaces that you do not want scratched, do not scrape it off as this could damage the surface. Instead, use a hair dryer on high to warm it up and melt it and a paper towel to wipe it off. Keep doing this until the wax is gone. Then you can use warm soap and water or Goo Gone to wash off any of the wax residue.

I combined 2 tips from eHow to remove a wax splatter from my brand-new wood table. I put ice cubes in a plastic baggie, placed the baggie right on top of the wax splatter for about 20 minutes, then I just pushed a plastic spatula across the wax. The wax "shattered," and came off with no effort, no scratches, and my table looks great.

In order not to damage the surface, a good way to scrape wax from hard surfaces is to use a credit card. A credit card has a sharp edge, but is not hard enough to scratch the surface. Avoid using metal objects such as knives.

    1. Place a newspaper on the waxed area (not to thick). 2. Then gently iron the newspaper and the newspaper drains the wax!

Heat the wax with a hair dryer, and wipe up with a paper towel until all the wax is removed.

I used massage oil. I applied it to the wax, then I scraped it off using a knife. You can hardly tell that wax was ever there!

If the wax splatters in tiny specks, clean up the wax with lemon (or any citrus based) oil. It wipes away clean.

I use a plastic spatula to pry off the wax after the area has been iced. The plastic won't scratch the wood.
