My Jack Russell Terrier is nearly 12 years old, and has only recently started chasing, growling, and biting at her tail. Her vet has checked her out thoroughly and believes it's caused by nerves being pinched in her back area due to arthritis. We've been trying first elavil (a tranquilizer for humans),and now added prednisone. She's been having drug therapy (and increased exercise) for several weeks now, and still does it a lot. Mostly when she wants to sit in your lap, but as soon as she gets in your lap, she looks uncomfortable and starts the spinning. Of course we put her down immediately. Any suggestions?
