Out of all the tips, I only had hydrogen peroxide so off I went... I poured the whole bottle on the 10" long stain that was a day old. I used paper towels to blot dry and voila! It was gone! Like the previous tip mentioned, I also have a lighter colored carpet so I'm not sure if it applies to darker carpets. Good luck! -

Pour large amount of table salt on stain immediately, let stand 15 minutes until salt takes on color of stain. Remove salt with vacuum. Dab warm water on stain, remove excess moisture with dry towel. Dab with carpet shampoo if stain persists. -

"Tide with Bleach" works well to remove red wine stains from carpet. However, use very little because it did lighten my carpet just a bit, but it is barely noticeable because my carpet is very light. My thanks to the lady in Albuquerque. -

You should delete the tip about using hot water to remove the red stain from the carpet. My husband owns a carpet cleaning business (21 years). Using hot water is so very incorrect.
