My wife spilled an entire glass - tried it first with just a splash of 10% peroxide hair stuff and soup - disin't do much - upped the dose to half peroxide and 1/2 warm washing powder solution - stains started coming out. Felt it burning my hands a bit - it is bleach so made sure really washed it out with warm water as quickly as possible - Looks like it worked! -

PattyS and KenP YOU ROCK! I spilled a whole glass of red wine on my white carpet.. I didn't panic because I had my Oxyclean, knew to act fast, blotted, used my Bissell cleaner and went to bed pleased to see the huge stain GONE. (Did regret loosing the wine. it was a good one.) 24 hrs later I return to admire my savvy cleaning skills and to my horror there was a horrible GREY stain where my precious Zin had fallen! I read both your posts and went to work on your version, Kenneth, of Patty's "recipe". UNREAL! IT IS GONE!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I want to add that this did produce quite a bit of suds in my dirty water canister. I added a teaspoon or less, of rubbing alcohol to the dirty water and was able to complete the job w/out having to keep re-emptying. Thank You! CHEERS -

A huge goblet of red wine was knocked over onto my light colored berber carpet. Bloting, rinsing, shampooing made the spot look better but did not take the entire stain out. Researching the subject further on the web, I came across Patty S.'s "recipe" for getting out red wine stains so I tried it. Mixed 50% carpet shampoo with 50% hydrogen peroxide, and sprayed it over the spot. Then took my handheld carpet shampooer, added the solution to that, and went over the spot a few times with the shampooer. Voila! The stain came completely out! You could never tell that there was ever a red wine spill there. Absolutely incredible! Thanks for sharing, Patty S.! -

I can't believe this worked! I knocked an entire glass of red wine on my beige carpet. I was so panicked, I almost didn't look on the web. I was so lucky this was the first article that came up. I followed the directions to a tee, and you can't even tell a stain was even there! Thanks a bunch! -

It happened last night and the only thing I had handy was Simple Solution Stain and Odor Remover for pets which I immediately poured on the carpet and it disappeared before my eyes. It is completely gone, plus there is no wine smell. The only thing is it didn't completely remove it from was the wall - which it turned to a very pale lavender so I will repaint the wall. Who knew this stuff was so fabulous?! -

This morning, after the party, I have removed the dry red wine stains from my chesterfield by using the Fantastik total bathroom (containing bleach), Last night, the wine was spread on the side of my chesterfield, the color of my chesterfield is cream. So, I put salt on stains, but it remains wine, and this morning I use the product above to remove it. I sprayed the Fantastik, then sponged it, rinsed with a wet clothe, and I used the vacuum to dry it. -

We have an old, patterned carpet that is mostly cream, upon which a large amount of red wine was spilled. In Australia you can buy Vanish NapiSan Oxyaction Max. I made up a solution 10-20g in 100ml water and wet the stain, working it in with my fingers. In a minute the stain disappeared before my eyes. I then blotted with plain water and soaked up any excess, and then vacuumed. -

Stains disappear before your eyes. Mix 1/2 scoop of Oxy Booster with 2 cups of water. Sprinkle directly on the stain until it disappears. -

Immediately sponge up as much as you can. Get a squirt bottle and mix 1/2 peroxide and 1/2 water. Then get another container and mix 1/2 Dawn liquid, (or any soapy dish washing liquid) and mix this with 1/2 water. Sponge on the soap mixture to the spot, then sponge on the peroxide mixture and rub. It's unbelievable how well this works. Good luck to any of you that are unfortunate enough to have to be looking this information up, but be assured that your worries are over. -

This only works for the first 20 minutes after a spill. Pour ordinary olive oil mixed with pepper and salt on stain and rub it into the stain. The tried and true Mediterranean cure. -

We put salt on a stain right away and left it overnight, in the morning the stain was still very much there. So, take club soda and pour on the stain before covering it with salt. This worked best for us. -

Recently during a party, my dog's tail knocked over a glass of red wine onto the carpet. We did what we could to remove it immediately, but the main work had to be done once the guests had left the house. I went online and looked up ideas and the best thing that I found was spraying the stain with 30% Hydrogen Peroxide mixed with water. Just spray on the solution and then let it sit for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and dab up with a towel. You can repeat as necessary, but I didn't need to. -

Act immediately. Pour a good mound of salt over what was spilled - wine, juice, whatever. Do not wipe, just pour on the salt and leave on for at least 4 hours (I leave it overnight). In the morning the salt will have soaked it all up. Just vacuum it up. -

"Tide with Bleach" works well to remove red wine stains from carpet. However, use very little because it did lighten my carpet just a bit, but it is barely noticeable because my carpet is very light. My thanks to the lady in Albuquerque.
