I have to add again, that not all hair is created equal they are different as dandruff is. Hence everyone has to find out for themselves what works and what does not. My advise is to try different things one thing at a time and not if you have to look good on the following morning. So weekends and holidays are perfect. Also give the product some time to actually take action. No dandruff will disappear over night and some products like vitamins need weeks to adjust the whole system. Also take some rest between two testing episodes to be sure that you do not experience interactions between the two products. In addition the result of some products will wear off or work better or worse together with other products. Hence it is a big research by trial and error to find out what works best for your own hair and dandruffs.

to remove dandruf from the hairs, i can tell you my own experemant. Take 3 table spoon musturd oil and add 1 and half table spoon backing powder in it, make it a thin paste and use it on the roots of hair, leave it for 10 minutes and then wash with your shampoo and rains off with a little warmer water. apply this 2 times in a week with in a month you will forget that you had dundruf in your hairs ever. it will also give good shine to your hairs. apply this its really useful. i did it on my own hairs.

I think too that shampoo with all its chemicals is the cause of the dandruff. Maybe because it's hard to completely rinse out all of the shampoo, you always walk around with a irritated and/or inflamed chemical head. I went back to washing my scalp with SOAP (the same mild plant based soap bar I wash the rest of my self with--I don't have dandruff on my stomach either): it feels so nice. Just pretend your scalp is a part of your face. I have very long hair, and I have to admit that for some reason it's a little hard to wash the soap out of the lower part of my hair, so that I do wash with shampoo--I don't touch my scalp with it.
In the meantime, to take care of my dandruff--until my skin is happy again and able to take care of itself, I plan to spritz my scalp with water with one or two dissolved aspirin tablets in it. I'll keep you posted friends.

The only thing that helped me with my Seborrheic Dermatitis (severe dandruff) is tea tree oil and the Scalpicin with salicylic acid, but then started using Rite Aid Brand of Scalpicin which I had better results. I don’t have that many flakes, but the itching is unbearable. What’s funny is when I tried the tea tree oil by itself it did not do much. And when I tried the salicylic acid by itself I only receive temporary relief. But when I alternated the tea tree oil and the salicylic acid every other day I received tremendous results. What I do is one night I put on Scalpicin and leave it in all night and take a shower in the morning, and the next night I apply the tea tree oil. I had a really bad case, so I put on a lot (almost half the bottle per application). The tea tree oil has a strong odor that could smell up the house, just to warn you. Also note that there are two Scalpicin’s. One contains hydrocortisone and one contains salicylic acid. So if you try my method make sure you get the right one. For me, the hydrocortisone only temporary relieved my itching. I would by the Rite Aid brand or the CVS brand that says Scalp Relief or Scalp Itch and Dandruff Relief, as I received good results with these. Again I tried almost all of the products on the market, also Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon Juice, and this is the only thing that has helped me. Another thing to note is itching might occur on the day after the night you used the tea tree oil, but it will go away the next day when you take a shower the day after you put on the salicylic acid. I used to have a rough scalp and this has truly helping my scalp return back to normal.

I have tried everything!!!! From dandruff shampoos (Ketoconazole shampoos (Nizoral)Selenium sulfide shampoos (Selsun Blue)Shampoos containing salicylic acid (Ionil T).Tar-based shampoos (Neutrogena T/Gel).Zinc pyrithione shampoos (Selsun Salon, Head & Shoulders).NOTHING WORKED prescriptions to home remedies (egg, aspirin, listerine). NOTHING WORKS FOR LONG. My dandruff was BAD. I would try one shampoo it would work for 2 weeks or so but then my dandruff would come back. Nothing worked. The only thing that has ever worked was a product from E. Excel their anti-dandruff line. http://www.eexcel.net/catalog.asp?Group=13
i've used this stuff for 3 years now. NO FLAKES. But the company has stopped producing the dandruff shampoo due to its low popularity and high cost around 23 dollars a bottle. Now I am right now searching desperately for supplies.

2 tablespoon of yogurt 1 tablespoon of lemon juice 1 egg Mix them all together and apply on your hair for about one hour. Shampoo your hair. Do this daily till the dandruff is gone.

I agree, use of dandruff shampoo will not remove the dandruff, instead I agree that use of cold water and use of mild shampoo will decrease the problem One more tip which I found effective - massaging the hair oil into the scalp at night and cleaning it with some shampoo in the morning will reduce the problem.

I have very long hair, which I wash only once a week. Excess washing strips natural oils, the scalp tends to over compensate and produce excess sebum. Takes some time to train to this routine, cutting back from daily wash to every second day for awhile... then three days, etc.
Since training to a weekly wash I've found I get less episodes of dandruff. When I do I find that a final, cool rinse of parsley tea/tincture works well. Infuse a bunch of fresh parsley in boiled water for approx. 10 minutes, strain and set liquid aside to cool to tepid. Wash scalp once with mild shampoo (yes, scalp not hair and don't repeat whatever the bottle says). Rinse very well. Condition hair (yes hair, not scalp) concentrating on ends. Rinse this out with warm to cool water. Finally rinse with the parsley tea. Results: Shiny hair with no flecks.
