on 11/22/2005 Traditionally, Fijians picked and ate each other's head lice, but now they use Chinese chalk: boric acid in a stick form. Just rub it all over the scalp, and leave it on for 30 minutes till the next washing. The lice die. Chinese chalk (used also to repel ants and cockroaches) is cheap, it works, travels well, is easy, repeatable, and non-toxic. It can be found in Asian markets or some flea markets or online. Don't use chalks with added poisons!

on 12/22/2005 We have done a regimen of coconut oil hair treatments when lice come our way. It's a great way to spend a day 'on the beach' with the kids. However, I have seen a lot of other treatments here and will be using them in the future. One great thing about any oil: it will suffocate a louse.

on 11/22/2005 Get rid of head lice with Tea Tree Oil. You can buy it at Wal-mart or any health food store. Add about twenty drops to a spray bottle, spray it in your hair, wrap your hair with a hot towel, wait about twenty minutes, and rinse it out. Remove nits with a nit comb. It really works, and is harmless.

on 11/22/2005 My daughter had lice a few years back and I found that none of the commercial products worked. My doctor recommended that I cover her head with mayonnaise and then cover it with a shower cap for 4-5 hours. A bunch of her friends who also had lice got together and we had a picture party where we took pictures of them with their mayonnaise hair. We washed it out and all of the lice were gone. It made her hair very silky, also.

on 11/22/2005 buy a bottle of sea breeze it's for your hair & skin..

you do need a small comb like the one you already have in all the lice kits you've wasted money on..spray sea breeze on the hair saturating the hair comb through hair lice will almost fall out of hair dip comb in a cup of bleach
than rinse comb throughly in water than comb out the rest of hair spray sea breeze in hair daily you will have no more lice spray funiture let hair out lice will be gone..any questions email me at silky@gbronline.com..
sea breeze can be brought at normally all drug stores for under $10.00 & a spray bottle for less than $2.00 you'll never try anything else again...be carefull with bleach..the bleach removes all the nits and eggs from the comb alot easier...

on 11/22/2005 I have tried a few ideas but this seems to work the best, on dry hair pour conditioner (Dep works well) and work in well (the more the better) leave on hair for 20 minutes and use a fine tooth comb (a dog flea comb works well) and comb them out, the conditioner washes out easily but remember to keep checking for nits.

on 11/22/2005 If you cannot get rid of the actual head lice, you can use real mayo. Another tip is to use olive oil, which also suffocates the lice. Just pour it on, avoiding getting it on the face. Rub it in, then rinse it out. Wash with shampoo afterwards.

on 11/22/2005 What I tried and works is olive oil! You saturate the head and place a plastic bag (saran wrap)on the head for about 2-3 hours, or possibly overnight, and remove. The lice will be dead! Still check for nits every night.

on 11/22/2005 Lice nits are "glued" to hair shafts by the parent louse and are hard to remove. To dissolve the nit glue, rinse hair with a solution of 2 pints water with 1 cup white vinegar. This will weaken the glue and allow easier nit removal with a nit comb.

on 11/22/2005 Coat hair thickly with real (not imitation) mayonnaise, wrap hair in plastic wrap (don't cover face!) and sit for 1/2 hour. This suffocates lice. Nits can often be killed at the same time by heating the hair (sit in the sun or use a cap hair dryer).
