Sun-In does work, but during fall winter and sometimes spring, you cant go outside to sit in the sun, so you can't touch up your hair until summer time. Until then, your hair is orange! -

Henna is not going to lighten your hair. Yes, there is blonde henna out there, but it will only work on what's already there (if you have blond in your hair). It is a great conditioning agent for darker (or any) hair, but won't affect darker colors; it'll be neutral. However, it's great for natural blonde's to adjust their existing shade or for application after bleaching. -

John Frieda Sun Streaks. This is a brilliant product, one I cannot live without. You can use it with a hairdryer in the winter, or in the sun. So natural looking, I've never had to bleach my hair. You can only find it on eBay, which is a shame as JF must be losing thousands of pounds on it as they have discontinued it. You just put a little on and get the most natural color. -

What I did was create a mixture in a spray bottle of chamomile tea, lemon juice, honey and a little peroxide. I sprayed this on my hair every day 30 minutes before I took a shower and there are highlights in my hair now! It's very noticeable! -

I have really light blonde hair and I used Sun In. It was great! My hair was lighter and blonder. But now I wish I hadn't done it. I have horrible roots because Sun In is permanent! It looks really bad and during the winter you can't touch it up! -

My hair is naturally light brown with gold and reddish tints. I wanted to even out the color of my hair (it's lighter at the ends usually), so I got some Sun-In and it really works. I have a strawberry blonde color going on, and my hair is very oily naturally, so it didn't hurt it much (plus I don't have to put it in very much, only about once a week). If you're really worried about it, then get the conditioning Sun-In and use a product that helps fight split ends; like Garnier's Long and Strong. That stuff really works. -

I've used the cream bleach that they sell at drugstores made to lighten the mustache area that all women hate! Just follow the directions, and it only takes about half an hour. It's inexpensive, and easy to do. For the natural look, take very small wisps of hair and spread the cream bleach over it. If you prefer a different look, use larger pieces of hair. What I loved about this was that I was in complete control, because you can put in as little or as much as you need, and then add more later if you want. Plus it's not a very drastic change at first, but it adds natural looking highlights to your hair. -

I used to have really dark brown hair, then I wanted to go blonde. My mom said that I couldn't get it dyed. I went to WalMart and saw a product called Sun-In. I used it that weekend. After about 1-2 weeks of putting it on 1-2 times a day and spending 1-2 hours a day outside in the sun, my hair was blonde. And you can use it during the winter too. You put it in damp hair, then put a blow-dryer on high and blow dry your hair completely and it will turn Blondie. Also, every time you go out into the sun it touches up your hair making it even lighter. It really works. -

I have naturally dirty-blonde hair. It used to be a nice, golden blonde when I was younger, but it's gotten darker. Plus, I live in a polluted city, which I heard darkens your hair. Anyway, I wanted to lighten my hair, and while my goal was to make it almost platinum, that didn't exactly work. However, I did figure out a pretty good way of lightening hair (whether blonde or brown) through trial-and-error. First, my friends told me about Sun-In, and since I was completely inexperienced with hair color and such, I followed their advice and used about two bottles total of it on my hair for one week. It made my hair a dark strawberry/ginger blonde color, which I didn't really like much, it fried my hair, and I had dark brown roots, which were much darker than my naturally color. At this point, I stopped using Sun-In completely. Afterward, I spent a lot of time outside in the sun for about 2 weeks (during the summer) and the color got lighter! It still had the strawberry/ginger tint, and it was fried and I had dark roots. Next, my mother suggested that I rinse my hair (after shampooing and conditioning in the shower) with strong, strong chamomile tea with a whole lemon squeezed into it. I used a huge pot of it every other day for a week, rinsed (but not enough to completely rinse out the mixture) and blow-dried my hair normally. I also used Hot Oil to remedy the drying results of Sun-In. Voil! My hair got even lighter, was no longer fried, but had a bit of the ginger-ish tint left over. The best part of doing this was that I no longer had dark roots, but the roots that I now visibly had were back to my regular dirty blonde, which actually didn't look so bad with the dyed color. Finally, I started using the Sheer Blonde set for Platinum to Champagne color. This really really works! Not only did it really moisturize my hair, it lightened my natural hair color PLUS the dyed color, and it made the ginger tint in the dyed parts of my hair completely gone. Now, I have medium-light blonde hair with Champagne highlights, and what's best is that when my hair grows now, it is naturally a shade or two lighter than dirty blonde, with natural completely champagne highlights. Now, I can't wait to try olive oil, and the new Sheer Blonde glazes. So, the process is long, but you don't have to break your bank over it, and the results really are worth it! Also, Lush has some natural products for blonde hair (like Marilyn and other chamomile-based conditioners/shampoos) that I heard from reviews work really well. They're a bit expensive, but I'd like to try them as well. -

This concoction is simple to make and makes your hair so much lighter. Mix: 2 eggs some milk (a cup or so will do) a few squirts of honey squeeze of a full lemon Pour this mix onto your head and leave on for about 5-10 minutes. The smell isn't good, so be sure to do this in a shower or tub. After, rinse out your hair with your regular shampoo and conditioner. Then blow dry your hair straight and it should be thicker, shinier and have more bounce! I did this on my blonde hair, so I am not sure if it will work on darker hair, but you're welcome to try! -

My hair turns red whenever I use a box to dye my hair. alas I cannot afford to get it done at the salon, so I must improvise. I tried a blonde color from Garnier. This did more for me than usual box dyes, but my hair still had the red tinge. I put peroxide on my hair and then Sun In. This did a lot of damage to my hair, but it did help lighten it. -

You can use chamomile to lighten dark hair. I had dark-brown/black hair, now I have medium/dark hair. I've used chamomile spray for a few weeks now. For extra effects, use it with honey and lemon, or you can use it with shampoo or conditioner. -

Although regular henna does permanently dye the hair a dark red, NON-DYEING Henna does not turn hair that color, and it causes it to reflect sunlight and have more bounce. Try it in a shampoo. -

i think the best thing if you are getting your hair blonded is just to go to the hair dressers and also get them to recomend a good shampoo and conditioner because all other methods i have found either they dont turn out how you wanted them or your hair goes frizzy . It also takes so much time and effort on colouring roots to get the right colour and not going orange or yellow. -

John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves makes your hair a little bit wavy, but not the kind of wavy you get when you take your hair out of a ponytail. My friends and I love how our hair looks and feels like we are at the beach - salty and wavy. The John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves product smells like a tanning oil, so it smells like you're at the beach, too! -

I recently used Palmolive dishwashing soap in my hair. I know it sounds weird but I used it as shampoo (don't ask) and I got shinier hair with red and light brown highlights. My hair is medium brown. I love it. It's my new shampoo. -

I am a natural blonde but in the winter my hair goes a little duller than I'd like it to be. John Frieda's sheer blonde shampoo really does work great. It takes out all the yellowing color hair can get from chlorine and stuff and really whitens up my highlights. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a way to highlight their hair at home. -

My friend used potato to dye her hair. Blend potato with a little water to make a paste. Put it in your hair and leave it in for 3-4 hours. -

I have brown hair, but I dyed it medium auburn. Now I've stopped (after about 7 months). The hair is damaged. Now I have brown hair growing back above my ears, and the rest is medium auburn. I asked Revlon and they said to use light ash brown permanent color, and 2 to 3 days later use Revlon hightlights in honey with color-treated shampoo and conditioner. -

Some people might say that using "Sun In" works, but I tried it and it didn't work so well. My hair is a sandy blonde, and it only made my hair frizzy and "weird-feeling," but I'm not sure exactly how you're supposed to use it. -

I used SunIn with a blow dryer and it looked so natural. It made my naturally darker blonde hair into a great shade of light blonde. But I noticed that my hair was kind of frizzy after. -

I recently bought a product by salon selectives called lighten up. There are different bottles for different hair colors. It works really good, just make sure you get the right bottle (the one that matches your natureal hair color. -

I've used olive oil mixed with a little lemon juice many times to lighten my hair. I highly recommend it. It works! It's a good idea to take two showers after you put it in your hair, the olive oil is greasy. You just rub it into your hair, like a shampoo, and rinse. It works! -

Lemon juice doesn't work on brown hair. My hair used to be blonde when I was younger but it darkened and I tried lemon but it doesn't really work. Plus it probably would dry out your hair.
