Return to article: How to Dye Away the Grays
on 3/8/2008 Bigen is good for coloring grays.
on 11/5/2007 That is so true about stress! When I'm happy I'm less gray. Semi-perm hair color is great because you don't get that hard line when the color starts fading. Another thing I like to do sometime is use a color conditioner or rince between colourings to hide gray roots.
on 9/4/2007 I am gray hair and white hair mixed. I dyed it golden brown and would like to go to a ashy blonde. I thought about jus dyeing it. Do you think I should use bleach or jus dye it 3 shades down?
on 12/20/2006 Stress = extra gray hair for me - I know gray hair is an unavoidable part of being gray, but has anyone noticed the amount of gray hair is more when you are stressed out?
on 1/16/2006 Apply 20% peroxide to gray hair for 10 minutes before coloring and then apply hair color directly on top for 15 minutes. This will allow all the gray hair to grab and will make your hair color last longer. Any type of filler, like Gray Magic sold at beauty supply stores, will do basically the same. I have stubborn gray hair and this works great! I repeat this every 4-6 weeks without having to recolor my whole head.
on 1/16/2006 After about a week my gray hair is showing up. I bought some Maybelline Great Lash waterproof mascara in dark brown, which is a shade darker than my color light golden brown. It works just the same as those expensive ones sold at beauty supply stores. The crayon I was formerly using was driving me crazy with it's smell and pasty look. Simply apply the mascara after your hair has dried. It will only wash out with shampoo. You can touch up anywhere, anytime!
on 11/22/2005 Between dye jobs, apply a color that rinses out after a few washings (apply just to the roots, to prolong the time between colorings). Use a slightly darker color than your normal hair color. Colormark (available online) also has a brush-on temporary color for roots that is applied to dry hair, to hit the spots you might have missed when it was wet. It is pricey, but one bottle lasts a long time for touch-ups.
on 11/22/2005 If you don't have much gray, buy the box used for coloring mustaches in the men's section.
on 11/22/2005 I've colored just the gray portions around the ears and in front instead of the whole head. It doesn't show such a dramatic change and also covers just the gray places. I also have some left and can use it again in a few weeks. Choose the already mixed tube for 6 to 12 washings.
on 11/22/2005 After dying within a week gray hair starts to show up. Found solution that keep a bottle of color same as used and apply to the roots when gray hair starts to appear again. Mix the require amount of color in a separate bowl and apply just to the roots.
