on 6/6/2008 Avacados at my market seem available in only two varieties--rock hard or already guacamole. Perhaps i is time to seek a new market . . . Thanks for the tips!

on 6/5/2008 This is a great article. Getting it just right is not always easy to do, but it can make a world of difference...now if only someone could tell me what tapping on the melon is supposed to do!
on 6/5/2008 To add-- if you want to check the quality of your food, get a BRIX refractometer, they're cheap on ebay. High brix produce will not get eaten by bugs, nor will it rot on the counter...they keep a long time. They're highly nutritious and alkalizing, the kind of stuff our grandparents ate.

on 6/5/2008 I read the article on how to pick produce, the comments I have are everything is correct except when you pick watermelons, canatlopes, honey dew melons or any other always check the core of the melon if it is soft don,t purchase.I was raised in the produce business,my parents had a chain of combination produce, dairy and ice cream plus home made candies and fudge. was taught from ground up food @ produce business.
on 6/5/2008 Any advice for fruit, especially melons? I have a hard time picking out cantaloupes.
on 6/5/2008 Thank you for the tips! BTW, "than" should be "then" (in Step 2, sentence 2).
on 6/5/2008 Great!
