I find that brown sugar gives the drink so much more, plus it's better for you! If you want to go the whole hog, warm a couple of coffee beans by placing them on a spoon and heating the underneath of it, and place on the top of the drink with a third one grated on top over the lot. -

It is essential to warm the glass first. Pour in some boiling water, place a spoon in glass so it doesn't crack. Discard water. Next, add hot coffee, not whiskey. This way the sugar will dissolve fully. And of course, never use canned cream. -

Your whipped cream should never be from a can. It should be fresh, slightly whipped cream poured over the back of a spoon, so it rests on the top.
