    I find that brown sugar gives the drink so much more, plus it's better for you! If you want to go the whole hog, warm a couple of coffee beans by placing them on a spoon and heating the underneath of it, and place on the top of the drink with a third one grated on top over the lot.

    It is essential to warm the glass first. Pour in some boiling water, place a spoon in glass so it doesn't crack. Discard water. Next, add hot coffee, not whiskey. This way the sugar will dissolve fully. And of course, never use canned cream.

    Your whipped cream should never be from a can. It should be fresh, slightly whipped cream poured over the back of a spoon, so it rests on the top.
