Comments on How to Stop Your Cat From Urinating and Defecating Inappropriately

The problem is that it becomes a habit. Some people get addicted to smoking, and some cats get addicted to going where they are not supposed to. A mix of hot sauce and water will keep cats form areas that they are not supposed to pee. However, if they do not like their liter box, they may have a bladder infection, want attention, or not like a new pet. I suggest doing what you can to keep them from urinating where they are not welcome. Petting them in a liter box is a good idea if they are getting over an infection. Hor sauce and water is good if its sporadic as well as keeping extra liter boxes, and lastly, confinement to an area with not carpet is good as well. Something like a bathroom. I wish you luck. I am battling with a cat that I do not want to give away right now. confining areas and doing what keeps them off the couch and carpet are working well. They still pee on something eve

I have a new puppy, my cats are afraid to go outside so they stay upstairs with a litter box, food and access to a outside balcony and roof. One of them has started defacating on the roof. She uses the litterbox also. Is there something I can spray on the roof that will deter her from defacating there?

I have a female spayed farm born cat that uses the litter box well and doesn't pee on carpet. She only pees on clothing, towels, etc.. that are left in the floor. My only happen once or twice within several months. She has urinated on a couch we had, so we had to get rid of it. Any ideas???

what if they only pee on couchs and upholstered chairs? and my cat that does pee is a girl, so she's not marking her territory or anything. We thought this problem would stop when they got fixed. My parents are already talking about getting rid of her. HELP!!! p.s. the first comment that attracted me on here is the bengal thing because my cats are also bengals...is it a bengal problem?

Incidentally, so effective was the method of preventing my cats from urinating on stuff, that the following happened one night...My wife and I were in bed, and we heard one of the cats howling and hissing - it really sounded menacing, so I went downstairs to see what was going on...one of the cats was howling at the other and hissing. Upon inspection, I discovered that one of them had urinated on the carpet. I took the cat that wasnt howling to the vet, and discovered he had a stomach illness and was passing blood in his urine. Neither has urinated anywhere but the litterbox

By the way folks, you're going to read a lot of stuff from 'experts' who will swear that corporal punishment doesnt work with cats - with dogs, I've found this to be true, but are more dependant on positive treatment and are not as independant as cats...I've owned both and I know this to be true. My cats do not jump on counter, table tops, or scratch furniture (I've caught them doing each of these acts, and while they were in the middle of it - smacked them on the bottom, while yelling ,'No - Bad Cat!!!! In each situation they would run to their respective 'santuary spot'. Upon returning, I alway coddle them by brushing, petting or feeding while speaking softly to them. They've all managed to put two and two together..

I know this is going to sound cruel, but I had to catch them in the act, while fussing at them in a loud voice, and hold my cats head in it for a couple of minutes. He (crossing fingers) goes in the kitty litter now...

Cats can be SO nasty!! I have them, and love them, but gt so tired of their messiness. I have heard that the best product to use is one that eliminate biological odors - purchased at a home health care store. The same kind used to clean human "oops-es". I plan to give it a try. It makes sense..

I have been experienceing this for sometime now I have taken her to the vet and she is ok. I have moved 3 times in 3 years that might be a problem. I was wondering about the isolation though, My cat seems to pee in the early hours of the morning just before everyone gets up. She poops when she has been home alone for a few hours. I have tried the isolation but do I need to keep her there all the time and for how long? Can I let her out sometimes? I just want to fix the problem before my roommates kill my cat!!

My 3 yr old female cat has recently began to deficate and urinate on our sofa's. We keep her litter box free of feces daily and use no special treatments but she will use it most of the time and still go on our furniture. We have tried everything to get rid of the smell but it only masks it. She went as far as last night as I laid down watching tv came and strattled my legs when I realized she was urinating ON ME! We have never had this issue before. I love her and would be devistated if she had to go and so would she--she has never ever been outside since we adopted her from the animal shelter. Has anyone used that "As seen on tv" product I believe is called UrineBGone?

My problem is with Luke, twin brother to Leia. We moved into a new place and was fine for about six months. Then he started to pee in a corner by a bookshelf. He hasn't stopped since. More amazing -- and so frustrating I can't even tell you! -- is he now pees right outside his litter box! Oh he'll go in to poo, but not pee! Leia is a dream; Luke is driving me up the wall. And he knows it because all I have to do is say his name in a certain tone and he scurries under the bed. Someone help! Please!

Help. We have had to move to a small flat with two cats and a baby. No matter how many litter trays we put in, the dominant cat runs and uses all of them as quickly as she can first. Then she proceeds to defecate and urinate on the floor, so she just does it everywhere. The other cat mostly uses the tray except when it's just been used by the dominant cat. Help. I've got to the point where I'm trying to give her away, but I don't really want to do this.
