on 10/26/2009 our boxer/pit/lab dog of 1 yr old gave birth to 9 puppys 1 was still born. its been 4 hours sence last puppy and now she is acting like there may be another but she pushes and all that
comes out is small amounts of dark blood, what should we do now

on 6/30/2009 is it safe to breed a chihuahua/pomernian mix with another chihuahua? My neighber thinks my male is to big for her female.

on 4/7/2009 Hi I have adog named missy who has been having contractions for two days already,she is about 8 years old and seems to just have started to bleed but she really looks like she is in pain.PLEASE HELP ME A.S.A.P.

on 3/31/2009 hello i am a fist timer my dog is 55 days know i just began to take her tempature. i recently took her to the vet and they told me she would be expexting 3 puppies he said i had to do a c seaction but he wanted to do it on the 48 day so i wasnt sure if he just wanted to easy money. the biggest puppy looks like it should go through just fine but i am scared and do not know what to do should i let her try to give birth? or should i take her to another vet to get there opinion

on 3/6/2009 My do Prescious is just about due. This is my first time and hers. I am scared to death and not sure what to expect! My concern is : What do I do with the "proud father"? do I keep both dogs seperated???? And if so, how long? Also, should I ever touch the puppies once they're settled in with the new mother? on 10/18/2008 My first question is my Jack Russel Tinker has been pregnant for 56 days last week she was leaking clear discharge and constantly licking her private area. I thought she was going to have the puppies then for sure but a week later and she's fine. She is just sleeping alot. Should I be worried? I have never had a preg. dog before. Also my other question is I have laid down some bedding for her just sheets and that will that be fine or do I need something more for her?Thank you so much!

on 8/28/2008 RainyDayzBaby: Dixie should be just fine with milk unless your vet has told you she may have a problem. If you would like peace of mind purchase some puppy formula and have it handy in case it is needed. Also make sure you have the smallest plastic eyedropper you can find because Dixie's pups will be tiny and the bottles they give you are never small enough. You will know if the pups are not getting enough milk if you see them try to nurse and are either not latching on for some reason or if after they've been latched on they start crying soon after instead of going to sleep. Also, they should gain weight everyday so weigh them once a day about the same time, keeping a chart and you will see which pups are not getting fed. If you need any other advice just let me know.

on 8/20/2008 I have a toy apricot poodle, named Dixie, who got nailed by a mini American Eskimo by accident - she is about to give birth and I am really fearful something bad might happen, so I've been hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. She has been biting at the blankets alot, not sure why. Otherwise, she has remained pretty calm. Never birthed pups before, scared to death. I guess I am most worried about pups not getting enough milk or that Dixie's little nipples might get clogged or infected. Any advice on this? Thanks!

on 1/25/2007 New Mother- I was glad I insisted on being with my girl when she had her first litter. After she literally screamed with the first birth, she then growled and snapped at the puppy. I quickly removed it after drying and put it in the whelping box on a heating pad. I had to do the same with all seven. She didn't seem to know what they were. In fact, I made her lie down and nurse the babies, setting my alarm for every three hours for several days, removing her from the box and crating her for their safety afterwards. This all changed as they grew, and she then willingly took over....just glad I helped her through the initial traumatic period as she might have killed the babies.

on 9/10/2006 We had a vet tell us to add a little honey to the mother's water when she was in the process of delivering the puppies or right after. This helps give the mother quick energy. Apple cider vinegar (a small amount) in the honey water help the new mother to produce more milk. I can't say whether this works or not, since the mother had lots of milk. I know we had a puppy get the chilling syndrome (where their body temp drops). I put the puppy on a heating pad, gave it warm water and honey, took it straight to the vet, and he said the honey (in his opinion) saved the puppy's life.

on 8/14/2006 My miniature poodle just gave birth to one very large pup. Unfortunately, the puppy's rear legs came out first and the head was stuck. It took me too long to figure out how to get the rest of the pup out; gently pulling and twisting, nothing worked. It wasn't until I figured out to push on the moms rear, between the rectum and vaginal canal, that the head popped out. Unfortunately, it had been too long and the pup suffocated. I hope this helps someone else out there.
