on 11/22/2005 Drop ticks and fleas into a small container of bleach. It not only kills them but the bleach eats them and then just empty the container the next day.

on 11/22/2005 Dab Tick with cotton ball full of Rubbing Alcohol before attempting to remove. Makes them let go so you can get head and all at once. Don't know why, but it works!!!

on 11/22/2005 Want to know the best way to dispose of ticks? Scotch tape. Just put them on a piece and fold the other side of the tape on top of them. Then just toss them in the trash.

on 11/22/2005 When you remove a tick from your animal, bring the tick in a jar or plastic bag and submit it to your veterinarian. Some clinics send ticks off to be tested for Lyme disease.

on 11/22/2005 Ticks come out a lot easier if you apply a small coat of clear nail polish over the pest. This will kill the tick and make it drop off.

on 11/22/2005 Watch when washing Fido's blanket. I wash Fido's bedding every week during tick season, and those friendly ticks hang on. I put the bedding over the fence, check carefully, use tweezers, and squeeze until the ticks are cut in half.

on 11/22/2005 My collie had several ticks on him; the bites caused temporary paralysis!! It starts in the back legs and works forward. Thee dog can recover, but the vet said not always. We live in West Virginia - I don't know where else this may apply, but watch out!

on 11/22/2005 One of my dogs who had a very bad attitude about removing ticks and a hurting back is how I came upon this. Deep Heat puts off a real burning sensation for a short time. So I called Boober over and used it on him. Presto, that tick backed out.

on 11/22/2005 Keep the hair spread apart around the tick and have a helper light a match. Blow the flame out and gently hold the hot match head on the tick. It will cause the tick to back itself out of the skin. You can then get it in a tissue and dispose of it.

on 11/22/2005 The ticks will come back up the toilet. I know. I keep a bottle of tick killer/insecticide handy and drop them in there.

on 11/22/2005 It is easier to remove ticks by putting alcohol on a cotton ball and placing the cotton ball on the tick. Alcohol suffocates the tick, forcing it to remove its head from your pet's skin.

on 11/22/2005 Put a drop of baby oil on the tick before removing it with tweezers. The tick comes right off without the head being left in the pet.

on 11/22/2005 Feel all over the dog for small lumps under the fur. Make sure to check eyes, ears, and muzzle area. Also, I have found ticks between the toes (including dewclaws) and underneath the paws, between the pads. I drop the ticks in a jar of alchohol.

on 11/22/2005 Put some olive oil on a small piece of cotton. Rub the attacked spot and grab the tick with it! It will come off very easily - no pain and you'll be sure the head won't stay in your pet's skin!! Then burn the horrible creature!!
