on 6/12/2008 Thanks for the tips. The is a book called The 4-hour Work Week that talks about Parkinson's Law which says: "a task swells in importance and complexity in relation to the time allotted for its completion. It is the magic of the imminent deadline." pg. 75

on 6/3/2008 All great tips, I used to be extremely organized and I did it with making a to do list and crossing things off as I did them and it gave me a great sense of accomplishment.

on 6/2/2008 I've used a watch that you can set 5 alarms on. This helps remind me to take breaks while doing projects. and about meetings, appointments, etc. It's an indispensable time management tool. A 'Casio Pathfinder' watch serves this purpose well.

on 5/29/2008 I procrastinate when I'm feeling overwhelmed and overloaded. Like if I have a book to write, I'll put it off. Once I write the outline and list the tasks I need to do in order to get it done, however, I can finally tackle it. Another thing I do is set my timer for 15 minutes and force myself to do the thing I've been putting off for that amount of time. 15 minutes often turns into several hours but it's like a bribe - the fifteen minutes gets me to sit down and just do it.

on 5/27/2008 I believe fear is often the emotion or feeling that triggers procrastination. To eliminate procrastination, I step back and look at the big picture of my writing career. I find this helps me get rid of any projects I don't need and focus on the ones I do. Now that I practice this regularly, I rarely find myself procrastinating.

on 5/26/2008 I try to keep in mind the old adage "never put off until tomorrow what you can do today" and then that way I get more things done. Also I feel better about myself at the end of the day.

on 5/17/2008 Good article! I'm going to get right to applying these steps... tomorrow. lol Seriously, good article. The old axiom of eating an elephant one bite at a time holds true for large projects.

on 5/13/2008 Good article, I've always had trouble with this. Especially when it comes to the laundry!
Problems with procrastination and lack of initiative are also associated with Type 1 ADD. http://amenclinics.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=5
