on 5/8/2008 More good tips, Amy! When at the computer, I have to keep reminding myself to get up and take a break and get moving. It's so easy to move into a sedentary mode.

on 3/31/2008 I struggle with this daily and mostly I lose. These are great ideas. You have inspired me to go forth and really reclaim that old dress size.

on 3/21/2008 Don't stuff your face. Get off your butt more often.

on 3/20/2008 Great tips, not just for while you are working at home, but also for when you get home. So many of us just sit and do nothing once we get off work. Step 4 is exactly on point! Thanks!

on 3/17/2008 Step 4 works really well when you have a dog. I spent break times walking my dog. It "justified" leaving my desk! It also saved my life, according to the doctors, when I had a stroke five months ago. Great tips all around!

on 3/17/2008 I don't work from home but had been out of work for about six months. I worried that I'd gain weight not only from sitting around the house, but not being able to afford to join a gym. So I made it a point to run every day during the week. I used the free gym at my sister's rental complex (snuck in, they didn't know I wasn't a resident) and ran between 2.5 and 4 miles a day. Then spent the rest of the day online looking for work.

on 3/17/2008 You're completely right about getting out from behind the desk - it's easy to get caught up in work and errands, and not take the time to do something active. I've just set a goal for myself to run a 5-mile race, and THAT's getting me motivated to leave the computer and get to the gym each day! I don't want to drop dead two miles in. I think goal-setting is a great way to stay motivated and not let the 'I-ate-a-whole-box-of-brownies-so-who-cares?' syndrome kick in. Thanks for the great article.
