on 5/7/2008 wow. There is so much information here. Thank you for taking the time to give people who live on the streets a name, face, and perhaps a voice. I have met a few people who lived on the streets long or short term. Some of them actually were there by choice. I always say I am only one step away from being in the same place as them. They are people just like us. Thanks again for writing this.

on 3/6/2008 Sadly, it's very true that it's almost impossible to get a homeless person to see you as anything other than a resource. Sometimes it's hard to have compassion when all you can do seems to disappear into nothing, instantly. Sorry about the coke. The homeless person may not have been able to drink it. Once people get really far into alcoholism, they can't really take in anything much else. It's a horrifying scenario. I honor you for trying, travis22. You're a mensch.

on 3/6/2008 This a a very helpful article. I do speak to homeless people, but it all comes down to begging for money from me. I bought one a coke, and they never openned it and let it go to waste. A little part of me helping them that day died.
