on 9/19/2008 Borax is excellent to use to clean garbage disposals. I use borax monthly (though weekly is good too) and there's never been any drain odors. I use about 1/4 cup, but I pour it onto the rubber shield, letting the Borax sift through. After an hour, I rinse the disposal using hot water. Great article. 5 stars!
