on 10/3/2008 HAHA! That was funny. I am so guilty of "back in the day". But I'm from Brooklyn! I was an English Major so double shame on me! You'd like my sarcastic article: "How to come up with your own catch phrase". Talk about playing out words!

on 8/10/2008 LOL this is so true, and I'm sorry, but you will probably be able to write a "Part 2" to this article before long - that's the nature of language. PS; maybe that extra S in Step4 is a New England thing? We seem to add that onto a lot of unnecessary nouns, ie "I'm going to Targets" or "Walmarts is having a sale" :)

on 7/22/2008 The English language has evolved and will continue to do so from a melting pot of many languages and dialects as a consequence of colonization. This language is now experiencing the dramatic influences of 'text language' which includes extreme abbreviations and symbols. This however, is not new, as ancient Anglo-Saxon texts include the use of symbols and earlier forms of spelling. Check out the etymology of the word 'Weird' originally 'Wyrd', which is used extensively in the original transcripts of Beowulf.

on 7/16/2008 Yes, all very true, but what about the other phrases such as dude, awesome and amazing or "I was...like..". It is rather obvious that Americanese has taken over the English language.

on 5/27/2008 Very funny, and sadly very true. While the internet allows for fast communication, we should all still strive to keep that communication clear and concise.

on 3/4/2008 I get annoyed when I say, "Thank you" to somebody only to have the recipient of my gratitude respond with, "No problem" instead of "You're welcome." It's sort of demeaning and definitely not polite. No problem? Now that's a problem!

on 1/26/2008 That is great. I love it. You did a wonderful job. With the media and other things what they are today it is dumbing down America. Think about it the skip in a deck of uno cards no longer has words only pictures. What we don't read now? So my trigger word is Basically ....I have a guy at work that inserts that word before every sentance...small pause...a breath...and basically it gets annoying really fast.
