Return to article: How to Trim the Back of Your Neck
on 5/14/2008 oops! Add this to the above comment. Once the belt is in place, [I hold the two ends together firmly in front of my face with my left hand]. Only the 'to be nipped off hair is showing below the edge of the belt now. My right hand takes the trimmer to the lower edge of the belt, and swoops down to nip off the hair neatly. All along the hair line at the back. Double check with a mirror. Or rather two! All the best!
on 5/14/2008 I use an old leather belt, to use as a guide line, and use an electric trimmer. Works fine for me. Since my trimmer is a self sharpening one, no problem so far.:)
on 3/4/2008 I have to shave the back of my neck every few days because my hair grows fast. So I don't have time to mess around with getting it exactly to the line every time. I just put one hand over the hairline and shave up to my hand. It isn't completely accurate but if you do it often you tend to even out the unevenness.
on 1/17/2008 The straight line is the tough part. Even using tape it's still difficult to get the tape perfectly straight. I haven't tried using a shoe lace. I use a hand mirror, and stand with my back to the wall mirror. I hold my left hand against my neck, palm against my skin, and use the line made by my index finger as my guide. I do one side of my neck, then the other. It's not always perfect, but after practice, it gets pretty good. I wish there was a better way.
on 11/22/2005 To shave that straight line in the back of your neck, either tie a shoelace around your neck or use painters' tape as a guide. Painters' tape does not stick too much; this should give you a nice line to guide your razor.
