on 6/8/2008 I am amazed how many idiots their are out there that are willing to write an article to stop something that was brought to our country by our ancestors. Cockfighting has been a sport all over the world. It was even a sport of the presidents. The gamecock almost made the national bird over the bald eagle. Doesn't that tell america how important the gamefowl are. Without cockers testing the gamefowl for their abilitys they would no longer be considered gamefowl. Gamefowl are different than the ordinary laying chickens. They are bred to be stronger than the rest and more disease resistant. If something happens to the layers who do you think will be there to help them get eggs and stuff going. What if theirs a huge disease outbreak such as avian influenza. Gamefowl are most likely going to have a better chance at getting through it due to their strong genes and health. We would be the breede

on 6/8/2008 Although the article is aimed at preventing illegal activity, it appears that the author is actually promoting the same. Read closely, the way in which one should gather evidence, most importantly, the part about looking at the birds for signs of injury or maltreatment. In order to obtain such an upclose and personal view, the would-be investigator would need either an invitation from the person with the fowl (unlikely) or they will have to sneak into the area where the animals are being kept. In short, the person would need to tresspass. Not only is tresspassing illegal and an invasion of privacy, but it opens to doors to other criminal acts such as vandalism, destruction of property, and burglary. Many feel they are in the right for answering the call of what they feel is a just cause, but the fact remains: criminal behavior is criminal, and although some may see it as the "lesser evil

on 6/8/2008 It`s mind blowing to observe the actions taken these days. Peolpe spending money to finance animal cops, chasing people that may or may not be fighting chickens, or even trying to educate people on how to turn people in for coackfighting whether we know they are or not. It`s a hard pill to swallow seeing organizations such as the HSUS, etc. banking millions of dollars to finance a personal war on what they think is wrong in their eyes and falsely educating unknowing citizens in ways that is mirrored to brain washing. If money that was don`ted to these organizations were donated to safe houses for battered women and children or St. Judes to help save human lives and find cures for cancer then our society would be much better off and our world would be a better place. But no special interests groups stockpile money to steer politiciansto write and pass laws that please them and their cause

on 3/16/2008 Thank you for writing this. It's very helpful. It's sickening how some people have no respect for life. Thanks again.

on 3/1/2008 Whoever posted this article is a fool! The Humane Society of the US does not operate ANY shelters for abused or fighting animals. They are a RADICAL animal rights organization that destroys every game bird or dog they get their handson. If you report any suspected cockfighting or dog fighting you are not "saving" any animals..only sentencing them to certain death. Don't believe me? Check into it!

on 2/28/2008 Get a life. How about spending that time investigating child abuse? A chicken? Who cares? Pass the BBQ sauce and get a life.
