Return to article: How to write 50,000 words in one month.
on 9/23/2008 Other than exercise, what benefit is there to getting on this site?
on 8/28/2008 I'll have to wait until next year now, dangit! ;# My good friend Doug Preston #author# told me once to try to write 2k words a day #if you wish to be a writer). Good suggestions!
on 8/27/2008 This is good advice.
on 8/25/2008 Wow. Just in time. Thanks for this info. I'm on it. Behappy
on 8/22/2008 This is a great idea and I need it. I got lazy with writing... Five Stars for you my friend!
on 8/21/2008 Great idea. I am writing close to 50K words right now on my first novel, plus all of my articles, etc... Great job!
on 8/21/2008 I love this idea. Stretch your brain power.
on 8/21/2008 Wow this is an excellent idea. I will have to try this out.
on 8/7/2008 Inspiring! I've signed but never done it :-) I may do it this year, though!
on 8/5/2008 I've participated in NaNoWriMo for several years. Although I haven't made it to 50,000 words yet, I have managed to beat my previous word count each time. I would just add two things here: 1) Don't worry about editing yet. Just write. This is a rough draft. You can edit it in December if you want. 2) If you're not comfortable with anyone else reading what you've written, you don't have to show it to them. When you submit your manuscript to the site, they just do a word count. If you've got 50,000 words, you've won!
on 3/4/2008 Wow! This is an inspiring proposition. The thought of writing 50,000 words in one month is overwhelming, but knowing that others have succeeded at it gives me courage and motivation to write more.
on 1/2/2008 Just keep writing! What you want to do is start to dig. In order to begin digging to essentially 'get to your inner thoughts' you have to move alot of 'dirt' out of the way. You will NOT run out of ideas. You will begin to get to what you really want to say...at some point. Be patient! I used to think that everything I wrote had to reflect that I WAS a genius or worthy of being a writer. It does not work like that! There is a book called' The Artists Way' that recommends writing, just get up early in the morning before you have time to censor yourself and write WHATEVER comes into your head, whether it makes sense to you or not. Do that for a month. DO NOT edit, censor, correct or change anything you write...just write it! Allow yourself to evolve. After you get the 'junk' out of the way, you will see that you have plenty of ideas and thoughts to develop! Good Luck!
on 1/2/2008 I will try that but what happens if I run out of ideas?
