Return to article: How to Witness to a Catholic
on 7/17/2008 I am so sorry for you Amanda, you may have lost the man of your dreams because of your lack of understanding of His religion. We don't worship Mary, our dead or the saints. We ask for their intercession. Who is closer to the Lord than Mary his Blessed mother and the saints who died for the faith. And yes it does show in the Bible the Petrine succession but I am not going to get into that know as my infant is crying and needs my attention. I will pray for you and all for understanding. Remember the greatest Commandment is "Love one another as I have loved you." By the way I have almost finished my degree in Catechetics and youth ministry so I do know what I am talking about.
on 6/2/2008 Ok - I totally disagree with the statement that the catholic church went wrong with designating a Pope - Catholics believe that JESUS designated Peter as the first Pope to lead the church on earth till he returns. All popes since Peter are SUCCESSORS to Peter --- Jesus in his wisdom, knew his followers needed a leader to stand him for him to grow the church and keep it alive till he came back to us. By the way, most catholics I know (self included) read the Bible - I extend a personal invitation to Anthony to attend mass - I suspect it would be a pleasant surprise for him !!
on 12/7/2007 I was engaged to a Catholic who considered me in a 'mixed' relationship because I am Christian. I was harshly judged by his church. I eventually called the wedding off. Poor thing wanted me to pray to my dead relatives and Mary...only person I pray to is Jesus, thank you.
on 12/6/2007 WriterGig, This isn't for Catholics who understand Christs love. This is for those that claim to be Catholics and claim they have salvation, but don't understand Christ or Salvation because they only attend Mass on Christmas and Easter. I know many who believe they can do whatever they want because they are saved and that is the extent of thier understanding.
on 12/5/2007 What do you think Jesus meant when he said "You are Peter and on this rock I will build my church"? Peter, the first pope, was to lead Christ's church on earth. Each pope who has succeeded him has had the same mission, to lead Jesus' followers.
on 12/3/2007 Hello, AD . . . You suggest implementing the use of a Bible - be certain if/when you do - to employ ONLY one that has 2 required 'stamps of approval' from the Roman Catholic Church - - - Nihi Obstat and Imprimatur - - - Catholics are instructed to accept as valid and permissible, only written works that contain these two items at the beginning of the dogmatic or doctrinal publication . . . of which the Bible is one.
