this is the dumbest article I have ever seen on the internet hands down. Only a small percentage of dogs can be truly trained to be attack dogs and in the worng hands you are doin nothing but begging for a law suit like a puppy begging for treats. Most people just need a dog that will bark (speak) there are many ways to teach your dog to bark, first find what motivates it to bark on its own, play with a toy, make silly sounds, try whistling in different off key tones, have treats in hand, unless the dog will bark for a toy, then the toy is the reward, say the command you wish to use over and over and over, it may take a long time, its best to start when they are very young, this is when a dog is most excitable. After you get the dog to speak on command you can then advance it. knock on the door and say the command. My dog speaks as a communication tool, I need to go out, i need some...

on 7/13/2009 You cannot learn to train a dog to attack from a simple how to article! And even one that had more detailed info than this article would absolutely teach you how to make your dog DANGEROUS & UNSTABLE, not a trained professional attack dog. This article gives no real instruction in how to accomplish this, and what it does give is very dangerous for anyone to try.

on 5/20/2008 And once you have trained a dog to attack, what happens when he attacks someone and you are not there to call him off? I do not believe that training a dog to attack is a wise move. I think that your statement "The dog must be taught to attack on its own initiative if, for example, the owner is unconscious and cannot issue a command" is particularly irresponsible. It is allowing the dog to attack when you are not issuing the command. I also know of numerous stories of individuals who have collapsed because of medical conditions and emergency personnel were not able to help the individual because their dogs wouldn't let them near them.

Children under the age of 12 are the most frequent victims of protection dogs. After that you have individuals who were not there as any form of threat but were perceived to be a threat by the dog. It is actually very rare for a dog trained for pr

on 4/4/2008 This comment is to bolodog and Skathock, you BOTH need to read up on your statistics. Dogs that are NOT trained properly end up as dogs that just bite for the fun of biting. Owners that train their dogs to attack do so in a manner thats going to put them as a statistic. Now if your dog bites someone that climbed over your fence ( even with BEWARE OF DOG SIGNS ) you can be sued and will more than likely lose the case. This can happen to any owner. Sites such as this one which points out the fundamentals about dog training is very informative and helpful. You should both keep your comments to yourself when downgrading any website put on here to help dog owners train their pets. Now with that said turn off your computers and dont post comments thats going to make you look STUPID.

on 1/8/2008 Personal Protection training should ONLY be done by an experienced professional. This article is deplorable. For every responsible dog owner who may not abuse this there are 20 irresponsible whose dogs will end up another dog bite statistic.

on 4/12/2008 terrible. when were you going to warn about the legal consequences of such a thing?! dog bites are serious. do you want to damage a breeds reputation? do you want to contribute to bsl? do you want your dog put down?! because these things can and will happen. attack dogs are frowned upon for good reason. buy a gun, or better yet a sword if you want protection. don't force good dogs into this unless you have at least 14 or 15 years of expirience in this area. this article was irresponsibly written.
