on 5/1/2008 I have been smoking for 2 years straight, every day, several times a day. Prior to that, I smoked every so often as more or less a "social thing". When I smoked weed every so often it was very easy to stop, at that point I thought "how can people be addicted". I am truly addicted now, and am going through some wicked withdrawls. I cant sleep, when I do fall asleep I have horrible vivid nightmares, wake up sweating, I have lost my appetite, all of these coupled with the desire to constantly use. It is very hard to say the least. I am slowly starting to become more social though. When I would smoke I would feel anxious, and withdrawn. I believe that marijuana has impacted my life negatively for far to long, I am glad I stopped.

on 3/26/2008 I agree it is psychologically addicting, it may be very very slightly physically addicting also. I think most of the withdrawal effects are mental, but can be severe in some people. I have written about this in my blog @ http://www.marijuana-addict.com

on 2/1/2008 Try smoking it all your life or for ten years or for five. Smoke it for one year straight then see how easy it is to quit. People who say it's easy are not heavy smokers or are high right now...lol. Seriously it's the most under estimated addiction out there. Thats why almost everybody does it. If you don't quit by someone telling you...you'll quit from experience!

on 11/26/2007 Hey Nugget,

I think you are missing the 10% of regular users who get really hooked. Not everyone who you see out there as a 'stoner' wants to stay that way. Many have a real struggle quitting. You can see my struggles at http://www.marijuana-addict.com

on 10/16/2007 Marijuana addiction? Is there really such a thing? I mean sure it can be psychologically addictive, but so anything you enjoy. The reason there are people in any kind of rehabilitation for marijuana is because of the bogus laws that are set in place. I know people who quit because they have a job interview or they are leaving town and can't smoke where they are going to be and they have all been just fine. But maybe I'm missing something.
