This is what they say Whitney uses on her Daughter bobby's hair. The Brazilian Blak RakSta treatment. Where you can wet your hair daily, while having a perm cuz the products coats and protects your hair leaving the water on the inside along with the vit and nutrients of the products cuz they suppose to have vit A-B-C-D-E in it. I looked at you can git it at www.DnaSuperb.com I here a lot of good stuff and I'm finally happy about this because we done went too long with damaging our hair.

Yes I do agree that going natural is the best way of growing out black hair. You can also try wearing a lace front wig while you transition. You can get them from www.pinklacewigs.com . They look 100% like your real hair and ALL of your hair will be covered cnder the cap so it will also give you hair a chance to relax.

To each his own...if you don't like shampoo fine but don't say it's bad just cuz u don't like it...just cuz u may not agree w/everything listed, doesn't make it a bad article. As for relaxed haired females being able to get away w/washing biweekly, that's something that belongs in the "to each his own" bin as well...I'm proudly relaxed and prefer to wash my hair every 3-5 days...htowndiva, going back to a perm doesn't mean you can stop taking care of your hair which is probably why it's breaking and shedding...I'm relaxed and don't have any of those problems...u should've just found another stylist since u clearly said at the beginning of your comment that you'd decided not to go back to perms...u went back obviously because u wanted to...that's not really something that somebody can talk u into

Natural hair and relaxed hair should be and need to be treated differently. Relaxed haired females can get away with washing bi weekly. Not the natural sisters, 3 days I feel is too long to go without washing. And when I say washing I don't mean with shampoo, worse advise this site could give. Shampoo is bad bad bad. You don't need shampoo too loosen the dirt and unclog pores. All you need is a good conditioner and vigorous rubbing of the scalp with the fingertips. Excessive washing strips, weakens and breaks the hair. The only real good advice I feel this site gave was the stressing of conditioning the hair. MOISTURE MOISTURE MOISTURE!!! As well, trim every 6 months or so. Ehow is not where african american women or curly haired sisters need to be going for hair advice. Nappturality.com. motowngirl.com. naturallycurly.com those are just a few. Go there if you want to REALLY lear...

to complete the story; i am looking for a SAFE and Effective way to strip my hair of a perm and go back to my natural texture. I would like any product recommendations also. Help!

I'm African American and until 4 weeks ago I allowed my hair to grow out using the typical weave method. It all began on a whim when i decided to cut my hair about 3 inches all over to accomodate a mohawk. After about two weeks of hating it i went back to a weave for a year and a half. My hair grew tremendously however; i decided i would not go back to perms. I started using a new stylist to maintain it because it was too hard to manage on my own by flat ironing and washing. This stylist complained about her wrist and her carpel tunnel. she then began to tell me how the humidity in our city would be horrific on my hair in the spring and summer months. after a few months of seeing her i decided to cave and get a relaxer. My hair has been breaking more than ever and shedding like crazy. it no longer has the healthy look it did when it was natural and just getting flat ironed and washed. I

This is directed to Mizani. You are a very active female, so if you don't wash your hair every few days, your hair would be on the pillow when you wake up. Based on the chlorine from the pool, the sweat from racquet ball, and jogging, your hair would be ate up and stinking bad. That method is for you. Now on the other hand, im one of those you find to be amazing :> I am a bi-weekly washer. I am not as active as you, I work at a desk, and go to school. This method is best for me. My hair is not relaxed, so therefore when I wash my hair I have to get it pressed and flat iron, and we all know too much heat on the hair is not good. And by the way, you cannot thoroughly wash your hair when you have braids in it, so I guess you are somewhat one of those amazing females too (somewhat).

Im African American and I wash my hair every week and that's stretching it because I can barely last 5 days without washing my hair lol. Although I do know a few who washes their hair bi-weeky, it wouldn't be fair for me to speak for everyone else by saying ALL African Americans wash their hair bi-weekly. It's bad to generalize.
on 1/6/2009
Im black and I wash my hair weekly in the winter and bi-weekly in the summer regardless of if my hair is relaxed, in braids or in a weave... However some friends and family are stuck on washing their hair biweekly. In my experience, with the steps listed above, a healthy diet, exercise and minimal heat use (with protection of strands when curling/flat ironing) also helps with black hair. A good Protein Conditioner has also been key for me, especially when followed up by a deep moisturizing conditioner.

my hair in the top on both sides came out because of pulling out a weave which was placed in my hair. My hair is long inthe back on both sides I'm bald I'm so embrassed i wear a sew in weavw with a cap under the sew in I want my hair to grow so I do nothave to wear weave any longer.

Ok I am an African American female and the part about washing our hair once or twice a month is not true. Many African American females wash their hair depending on the daily activites they encounter or once or twice every week. This is bogus! Please do more research before writing a article on hair care!

I am African American female; I swim twice a week, play racquet ball three times a week as well as jog twice a week. My hair is colored and relaxed and I sometimes wear braids. I wash my relaxed hair anywhere from two to four times per week. I think we often use hair as an excuse to limit us from having an active lifestyle. I find it amazing that one would only wash their hair twice a month when you wash your body each day. Be kind to your hair as well as your body. Please don't ever allow the excuse of time spent in a salon and a bodacious hair style to limit your lifestyle or hair care. The foundation of healthy hair starts with proper diet and exercise. If you are willing to take a little extra time, you can still have fun as well as maintain healthy hair and beautiful hair styles.
