Return to article: How to Care for a Newly Declawed Cat
on 3/26/2008 If a cat had pain after declawing had healed I think we'd know. They would limp around.. There is no scar tissue to speak of on any of mine.. And they do walk on the pads on the bottom of their feet not the tips of their toes like ballerinas.. All 3 of my cats are very happy specimens and they jump, run and play as though nothing had ever happened to them.. Like I already stated, Go find someone who is being inhumane to hound, not someone who spends a fortune on their animals and loves them very much...
on 3/26/2008 Maybe it is a higher power you need to be worried about Mr. matthieu---Not whether or not someone (who by the way obviously loves their pets) is being inhumane or not... You are offensive in your speech and I'm sure I'm not the only person who thinks so. So take your foul mouth words somewhere else because while I'm busy taking care of all my furry friends i'm sure there are people out there that aren't being so kind to the Blessed little creatures... Like the man who set the trap and caught my dog and now he has 3 legs to show for it!!! God bless you even though you aren't so nice to me.
on 3/26/2008 Um excuse me but how the hell are you supposed to train an animal not to scratch? Any animal will scratch not that they mean to hurt you but yes they will scratch. cats are jumpy animals by nature. If a person next to them sneezes they jump and act as though life as we know it has ended. And to people who think a cat can be trained not to do so obviously has never been around them. oh and honestly I'd love to be one of the lazy ones but God made me a neat and clean freak and there is no time for lazy when you have 3 cats and a dog to take care of... I clean their litter box daily and have had cats for years now and you would never know if you took a breath in my home..And whoever you are um Matthieu I don't think it's people like me you need to be making snide remarks to.. I take care of my animals and spoil them rotten and it's the people who put them out on the street to starve and fin
on 2/23/2008 IMPORTANT Two things you need to know about cats. 1. They are digitigrades. Which means they walk on their toes, not on the soles of their feet like most mammals. 2. Cat nails aren't like human fingernails. Sure, the part you can see is similar but cat's nails are actually part of a bone. The last joint in a cat's toe. And when veterinarians declaw a cat they remove THE ENTIRE BONE. Contrary to what people like "Sandfance" believe declawing is in no way minor surgery. If you were to compare it to a person as Sandfance has, you'd be better off saying that a person went to have some surgery and woke up with a stump where their foot should be. But that wouldn't be the end of it, because they'd have to be stuck walking on that stump with a painful build up of scar tissue for the rest of their lives. Understand this. Animals don't show pain like humans do. Your animal may not
on 2/23/2008 Sandfance, I'm sure if they could comprehend that it was you that did that to them they wouldn't love you so much. What people need to understand is that it isn't a case of a simple operation to remove a nail, they remove the entire first joint of a cat's toe. Imagine walking after having the first joint of your own toe cut off. Now imagine walking on it when it's full of sore and solidified scar tissue. People DO RESEARCH before you mutilate your pets. And honestly, if you're the kind of person who is too goddamn lazy to train your cat not to scratch you shouldn't have one. You people make me sick.
on 11/9/2007 To anyone who thinks declawing is inhumane...I really don't consider declawing a cat inhumane giving that the cat will be kept indoors.. Also they are put to sleep for the procedure and have no recollection of the surgery as humans don't when we are put under for any procedure...They are much better companions when you don't have to live in fear that they will scratch your grandchild and tear up furniture. Just because you have a cat doesn't mean you have to give up having nice things! I have 3 indoor cats that are declawed and they have no desire whatsoever to go outdoors...They are the perfect pets and they love me very much thank you!!!
