Return to article: How to Remove a Splinter
on 1/4/2009 I got a really bad splinter from a piece of glass and it is already sealed. I don't know what to do to get it out. It really hurts but I do not want to go to a doctor. How can I get it out?

on 12/13/2008 i have a small splinter on the inside of my right hand. my hand is really red around where the splinter is and it hurts anyone have any suggestions on how to remove it. it is deep in there
on 12/8/2008 my son who is 5 gets splinters all the time. He won't let you go near him with tweezers or a needle. I decided to use honey hair removal wax. Soak the area in warm water or under the faucet for several minutes. Then apply the wax the splinter and wait a few seconds and pull it off. It takes a few tries for splinters that are small but it will work!
on 11/12/2008 jo: There is a very very fine and small object stuck deep down into the left side of my left foot breast, which in i am not able to remove despite all the probing, the use of needle, immersing my leg into water, squeezing, peeling of surrounding skin etc... i find it hard to walk properly as there seems to be a little infeection, morever it hurts to do anything of the above. The fine "thing" has been stuck inside mmy leg for 5 days... and i have absolutely no idea how to relieve both the pain and the "thing". Am thinking of using wood glue on the area, in hope that it will come off upon peeling the glue... But i'm also afraid of the possibility of infection... Can someone experience out there help me??
on 11/12/2008 thank you so much. i'm only 12 and i HATE pain. i didn't use the numbing stuff or any ice i just clipped away some skin and took it out with the pointy side of tweezers. thank you so much!
on 10/21/2008 Hey jharry, yeah, using the needle is the best method I've found...just kinda painful is all.
on 10/2/2008 I had a very deep splinter in the side of my left foot. It stayed there a month. I had tried drawing it out with ichthymol, soaking my foot in salt water, soaking it in epsom salts. I had scrubbed most of the callous off using sand paper. However, the only thing that worked was when I had my sister, who has very good eyes, dig into my foot with a needle. She probed for forty-five minutes, snipped dead skin away with scissors, and finally located it with the use of a magnifying glass. "Ah, there it is!" she quipped and pulled out a very thin, light colored sliver. I've been okay since then. It wasn't that painful.
on 7/19/2008 oh, so nice discussion,how about enjoying something new? it will be very crazy to check *****m u l t i r a c i a l l o v e.c o m****. may be i need to check how really it goes...
on 6/16/2008 Put peanut butter on you finger. Let it sit for 1/2hr, then wrap it in tin foil. The tin foil act as a conductor for heat allowing the peanut butter to get warm and as the pressure changes, it will naturally suck the splinter out.
on 8/25/2007 Put wood glue on the splinter, let it dry, peel it off and the splinter will usually come with the dried glue.
on 8/22/2006 Cut the peeling off of a potato. Scrape the potato with a knife and spread on the splinter. Wrap it up and a little while and later the splinter will come out.
on 8/8/2006 You can always try soaking that area of skin in hot water. After a few seconds of soaking, I was able to easily pull the splinter out with tweezers.
