on 8/9/2008 Step 8 requires the use of a heart rate monitor. It is difficult to maintain a fairly constant heart rate without a monitor that keeps track of it. For beginning exercisers, the Polar F4 (for women only) or the Polar F6 are good monitors that are known to be accurate and reliable. They are not too basic nor too advanced. In addition to making sure that you are training at the right intensity, these monitors calculate your calorie consumption, which is a great help if you are training for weight loss.
