One note, After a layer of papier-mâché has been added to the ballon, Then you can tie a strong string around the ballon that comes out at the top, ensuring that the unit is balanced. Then put remaining papier-mâché on. This can be used for hanging later and it will dramatically increase the weight bearing limit of the project.

In Panama, sometimes we add not only candy but flour and we dont tell the guests, so it is a fun surprise plus the pictures are priceless (oh yeah, we do this only when we use pinatas on adult partys).

I got the recipe of 2 parts flour to 1 part water plus salt for the paste and dry 24 hours between layers. Trying to make a pirate pinata for my son's birthday 27 May. Looking for easy to make faces now.

Don't make the layers too thick as it will make it difficult to break open, also stand clear of the pinata breakers as this is a dangerous place to be!
