Return to article: How to Save Money on Wedding Photos
on 11/27/2007 The copyrights on all pictures at your wedding, even if you are paying for someone to take them, still belong to the photographer. But it is kind of a two headed dragon, the photographer can't use your pictures without your permission, and you can't make any copies without the photographer's permission. Remember that it is far cheaper and easier to "buy the copyright" or get your photographer to release the copyright to you, by signing an agreement that states you can use the pictures any way you want. Once you have the agreement in hand, head to your closest reprint store!
on 10/30/2007 Even if you get the proofs, remember, some places such as walmart and other photo centers wont copy them without some form of copyright issue. That is the most important thing you need to negotiate with your photographer about.
