on 1/29/2007 I just toss my vinyl shower curtain in the washing machine from time to time...always seems to work without tearing it up!

on 9/24/2006 Fill the tub with hot water, add some detergent, bleach and fabric conditioner and then soak the curtain for 2 hours and rinse. While rinsing, add salt to the water. This will definitely clean the shower curtain.

on 9/9/2006 Just pour some Clorox bleach in a spray bottle and spray it thoroughly on the dirty curtain. The blackness and the mildew will disappear in moments.

on 8/8/2006 This is for the inside facing of a shower curtain that gets all mildewed: Dump undiluted bleach on it. The mildew seriously will just start to disappear. Just slowly pour straight out of the bleach bottle and let it coat the curtain. As soon as the bleach hits the mildew, it starts going away, and within like 30 seconds-1 minute there is much less noticeable mildew! Rinse off with water.

Of course, be careful not to inhale the bleach and use gloves!

on 8/4/2006 Step into the tub and spray the liner with Lysol bathroom cleaner. Step out of the tub and place both hands on the outside of the liner and bring your hands together to start rubbing. When finished, step into tub and the spray liner off with hot water. This is a quick method. No real work for you!

on 1/30/2006 I just threw the thing in the tub itself, stopped up the drain, added about 4 cups of bleach, and filled the tub with hot water, and pushed all the air out of it. I soaked it that way overnight, and though it didn't get everything out, it did well considering. Then, I dumped a lot of baking soda into the water to neutralize the bleach, and safely drained out the water.

on 1/25/2006 The washing machine ate the cheap shower curtain from the dollar store, but did a pretty good job getting the mild mildew off the sturdy one.

I taped the good shower curtain against the shower wall to use as a backing for the steam cleaner. It got rid of the caked on yucky mildew, but you need a flat surface to steam against.

on 12/9/2005 I have now found that putting your shower curtain into the washing machine with both bleach and washing powder in the drawer works a treat. My shower curtain came out sparkling white (was previously stained orange from shampoo residue). Give it a go!

on 4/12/2008 Putting a few towels in the washer with the shower curtain will clean it. Use hot water. Put the curtain in the dryer set on warm for just a few minutes, and hang back up to finish drying. Leaving the curtain in the dryer too long can melt the curtain.

on 11/22/2005 I tried putting my vinyl shower curtain in the washing machine. There was a light leaf pattern on the curtain that was completely scrubbed off in places! I had to buy new curtains. If you have a shower curtain with a pattern, I wouldn't recommend using the washing machine.

on 11/22/2005 Do not wash a plastic or vinyl shower curtain in the washing machine on the HOT setting, or put one into the dryer. The plastic or vinyl curtains will melt!

on 11/22/2005 To easily remove built up soap scum or mildew on vinyl shower curtains, put the curtain in a washing machine. Use the hottest water setting, add some detergent and bleach. The bleach removes the mildew and the combination removes the soap scum. Shower curtains will look brand new after washing. You can also wash cloth shower curtains in a washer with cold water, using the gentle setting and detergent, to keep them clean and smelling fresher.

on 11/22/2005 I just throw my clear plastic curtain in the washer with some towels and then I throw it into the dryer. It comes out great. It's fun to pull a soft curtain apart and to rehang it good as new!

on 11/22/2005 Spray the curtain with Scrubbing Bubbles, let it sit for 5 minutes, then wipe dirty areas with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
