on 7/1/2009 EZY as 1 2 3if you know what kind of chemicals that u are gonna use in the microwave oven... my suggestion try a bit of bp (baking powder and half cup of warm water and put in the microwave oven for 5 minutes and it should clear out the junk.

on 4/10/2009 Everyone seems to overlook the fact that # 1. should be, UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE! Does that make sense out there?

on 1/28/2009 If you do use a chemical cleaner on the inside of your microwave (I have to on occasion since mine's a convection/microwave), make sure to rinse it with clear water at least once. Nothing like having steam condense on the top of the inside of the oven and drip back onto the food with all of the chemicals with it (though rare, it can happen). The vinegar or lemon juice and water combination is far safer.

on 1/27/2009 You can also soak a kitchen sponge with water/lemon juice/vinegar (the vinegar WILL stink up your kitchen) and microwave the sponge for a number of minutes, then let it cool & wipe down any residue with the sponge.

on 1/26/2009 I also vote for a cup of water, nuked for a couple of minutes and let it steam with the door closed for a couple of minutes and then just wipe it out with your dish cloth. No chemicals, no wasted paper towels and it's easy and it works great.

on 1/23/2009 Try the hot water/steam method, but add two tablespoons of lemon juice to one cup of water in a pyrex container. Microwave on high for 5 minutes, then wipe the inside down with a clean, damp cloth. Great result. And yes...be careful of the water as it will be very hot.

on 1/18/2009 An easy chemical - free method: Put a medium bowl half full of water into the microwave and cook it on Hi for about 7 minutes. Wait 5 minutes or so to let the steam work. Use a clean sponge or paper towel to wipe away all the gunk.

on 1/4/2009 Another great method is putting vinegar into a bowl and put it in the microwave for 2 to 3 minutes. Then wipe it down with a wet cloth.

on 12/12/2008 ick! I would never use a any type of cemical cleanser inside of my microwave.

I usually spray the microwave down with water, put baking soda & water mixed in a bowl, put a sponge in the bowl and stick it all in the microwave, turn it on for about 30+ seconds. Then use the sponge to scrub it all down. Then, to get rid of the smell; you can either rub a lemon to inside of the microwave and then wipe down with a damp paper towel AND/OR you can also take a bowl of water and mix in some cinnamon, allspice, orange peices and etc. then warm them in the microwave and turn on for for as long as needed 9stopping to mix them up every so often (just add more water as needed). This is also a good concoction for the stove top as well. I use all of these methods.

on 11/23/2008 For baked and caked on messes - put a durable (ceramic or heavy glass) bowl of water in the microwave for 1-2 minutes and let boil and the steam will loosen the mess. Wipe out most of the residue, and then clean as above.

on 10/14/2008 I agree with the wet sponge method. It not only will kill germs on your sponge (if microwaved for at least 2 mins.) but all debree with wipe off without any scubbing! Just did this today and it works like a dream!!!!!!!!!! Be carefull sponge will be HOT!!!!!
