Return to article: How to Get a Student Loan With No Credit History or Co-Signer
on 4/2/2009 In the time of recession its not easy to get student loans and maximum of the copanies has shut down their student loan division. In this crucial period you can go for goverment student grants and scholar ships. But here also you have to apply early to avail the money. If you are lucky you can have yours share of scholarship. on 11/13/2008 I understand exactly how you all feel, up to this point (my senior year in college) I have paid all of my tuition off, went to a two year school, worked and saved full time, then took a year off after getting two associates degrees, and WORKED MY BUTT off! It with the help of a few thousand from my family got me this far, I was lucky. But i am running into the same problem, I am out of money.. two semesters left and i have bad to fair credit.. payed off a credit card debt, and a Phone bill that defaulted cause Cingular screwed me! Other then that I am 23 wanting to finish school.. and well my parents wont co-sign, and FASFA doesn't help me with anything. In all honesty i don't want my parents to help me at all, even with the signing,(I work, live on my own, pay for my car, rent, gas, food, electric, etc..) I am independent other then health insurance, which ends this December..! My Paren

on 8/19/2008 bgsubound89, I was just curious on how and where you even managed to get up to $6,000 towards your college? I'm in the same predicament you are and haven't been able to find any loan money. Any money would help and if I could find that same amount I would be in a lot better of a place than I am right now.

on 8/17/2008 I know! All of these big scholarships available in the U.S. are for people with disabilities or of a non-caucasian background. I'm supposed to start my senior year this fall, but my dad's credit just went bad and now he can't take out the parent plus loan. I'm trying to find somewhere I can loan money with bad credit and no-cosigner, but not having any luck.
on 8/7/2008 I agree with messedupcountry. I have tried and tried to find aid. I got about 6,000 but I need to cover an 18,000 dollar bill! It barely made a dent in it! 6,000 sounds like a lot but it's really not. That's not including everything I'm going to need for college! I even have a job and I'm coming up short. I'm desperate and I'm supposed to move in in two weeks. This isn't looking good... If anyone has any answers email me at mroehl89@yahoo.com I don't have the credit or a co-signer for a loan. And please don't tell me to go to another school. I have already put so much money and time and effort into this school that it would be pointless to drop out now.
on 5/20/2008 This is ridiculous... i can't get enough from federal loans to cover my education... and i don't have the credit history or the ability to have a cosigner... this country has serious issue when someone born and raised here can't get the education that is mandatory to for sucess now days... while alll the foreigners come over here and get a free ride

on 4/8/2008 It's worth mentioning that if you're from a wealthy family that refuses to cosign on tens of thousands of dollars worth of loans, FAFSA factors their income into your Expected Family Contribution. Even if you're financially independent FAFSA still considers you dependent until your 24 or your parents are dead. So much for Perkins Loans and my Stafford Loan covers LESS THAN A TENTH of my educational expenses. You really think people in this situation haven't looked into these things? "Difficulty: Moderately Easy" This article's a joke.
on 12/27/2007 wow...this is absolutely ridiculous. I was totally thrilled to see this link, thinking I might get some new info on how to fund my education. But no...I've done all of this and am still $10,000 short for this year and that's not even including the next five years I'll be in school. Our education system is seriouly disturbed. I have a 4.0 in medical school, am attempting to pay for this on my own, have parents with bad credit who can't cosign....and I don't know what to do! Before you get someone has desperate and frustrated as me all excited with this seemingly perfect how to...make sure its a valid solution. thanks.
