Return to article: How to Relieve Menstrual Cramps
on 6/15/2009 I use to have horrible menstrual pain!! I tried a variety of drugs but nothing seemed to work. A friend of mine showed me a thing called a Anti-Menstrual Pain Band, they're made at MedicMates.com Its a very simple band that goes around your ankle (mine's bright yellow) and I love it! Applying pressure to a certain acupoint & relieves distress.
on 6/11/2009 Another thing that Ive found has helped tremendously is taking Vitamin D. I found out I have a Vit D deficiency. I started taking vitamin D about a week after my period last month. During my last period I almost went to the hospital because of severe pain in my thigh, and such severe cramps! Ive been on Vitamin D for about a month now and started my period the other day. I do not even feel like I am on my period. This is the least amount of pain I have had in my entire life. So if you have severe cramps itd be a good idea to get your Vit D levels checked. Even if they are normal it would still be a good idea to take a little vitamin D
on 4/28/2009 thank you will go take some b vitamnins right now since i have no pain killers left and it's the middle of the night lol well kinda lol actually this really hurts
on 10/15/2008 Thanks, and if all else fails, a nice cold glass of chardonnay works well too, just keep it moderate.
on 10/11/2008 endometriosis is the worse pain. only thing that has even come close to working after 20 years, at least 3,000mg of high quality fish oil every day, meta-genics brand.
on 9/25/2008 I just think some of us are always going to deal with extreme pain. I never had cramps until my early twenties. Every month I make myself sick when I realize it is close to my period. Nothing I do seems to work. My biggest problem is the intestinal cramping that accopmpanies my menstrual cramps. I just read taking fish oils can help a lot. It is worth a try. I think the best suggestion is to see your doctor. I have avoided talking with her about it because my husband and I are trying to conceive. It looks like I am going to have to do it though. I can not keep dealing with this every month. AMEN to the person who said pray!! God truely does bless us all.
on 9/20/2008 also take vitamins after you eat a meal, usually works better at the end of the day when you're going to bed.vitamins help relieve the apin by working with the energy you get from the food.... i tried this and everytime my periods come i rush to my vitamins and take one with lots of water and the pain gone like that!!! it really helps when you're going to sleep and don't want to suffer from cramps. well see ya^^
on 6/2/2008 It also helps if you go see a gynecologist. It can be scary if it's your first time, heck EVERY TIME but it's so totally WORTH it! They gave me pills because I have irregular periods with heavy bleeding, clots and cramps. With the pills, it's cut all that down dramatically. Speak with your gyno! AND drink PLENTY of water, it'll help the cramps and dilute your heavy flow.
on 5/30/2008 Hey everybody, I suffered from menstrual cramps since I was a teenager. I'm reaserching Vitamin B1 (thiamin)I have been taking it for about 2 months and I just got my period and I just can not believe it, no cramps at all. I've been taking calcium, magnesium and Vitamin B6 even before I started B1, but I still got the horrible cramps. I'm wondering if other people got that same result with B1??? ara
on 4/18/2008 If you're having "intestine-twisting" bad cramps like Raintail describes, please get checked for ovarian cysts. I've had to go to the ER a few times with how bad they got. As for masturbation, it's great to relieve the cramps. The flexing and contracting of orgasm basically "breaks" the cramp, the same way that stretching your leg relieves a charlie-horse.
on 11/30/2007 i've find out if you eat a lot of banannas it helps for those that dont eat banannas try taking vitamins high in potasma that really works but you have to take them daily.
on 11/24/2007 i have bad pain and i threw up like 6 times today and i almost fainted..does anyone no if thats a bad thing? Like im only 14 and ive never had sex or done anything sexual. please help
on 7/14/2007 yummytaylor's problem sounds the exactly the same as mine. When I went to the doctor he said it's because when you are on you period you body releases a chemical that causes your muscles to contract. Genetically some peoples pores are bigger inside so the chemical reaches deeper and causes more pain. My suggestion is definitely try birth control pills. But since then I've gotten off them and instead of crying in pain crouchd over on my side I try to take it easy. Draw the hottest bath you can handel listen to music drink lemon lime soda eat some chocolate and just relax
on 4/17/2007 I'm no expert but I think that the best thing that you can do to relieve yourself from cramps is to drink a lot of herbal tea (mixed with brown sugar), and also to take some advils. Though you should start taking these things not when your period starts, but actually couple of days before it begins. If you do this before the pain is more than likely to subside. Another suggestion is to simply PRAY. Get down on your kness and say 'Lord Help ME, I am in Pain'. I don't know about you but whenever I have called out to Him he has always been there to respond. All the best. Wishing a healthy future for you!!!
