You've probably heard the tip about braiding your hair at night in one or two braids. Well, if your curls are frizzy, put some gel in your hair before you braid it. The next day, your hair looks great and it stays like that due to the gel. I used all kinds of different gels with this technique and it doesn't make my hair stiff. I wore this look to my brother's graduation and it really worked out. -

Wash you hair with extra conditioner. As soon as you get out of the shower put mousse, gel and hair spray in your hair. -

Instead of sleeping on your regular pillow case, buy a silk pillow case or sleep on silk pajamas (with wet or dry curls). It doesn't make your hair all matted and frizzy, your curls stay nice and smooth for the morning. :) -

When I was young, I had stick-straight, soft hair that I loved. Now it seems that I woke up one morning, and all of a sudden it's curly! My mom took me to her hairdresser, and he recommended the curl cream that I now use whenever I wash my hair. It's Kerastase, it comes in an orange bottle, and is called 'Elasto-Curl'. After you wash your hair, towel it dry, brush it, and then rub the cream over your hands and apply it to your hair. Make sure you use it more in the ends as oppose to the roots, or your hair will look oily. Then scrunch your hair a little bit, and let it dry naturally. When it's totally dry, use some sort of product to fight frizz such as John Frieda 'Frizz-Ease'. And voilĂ , curls that stay in without any frizz! -

Wash your hair once a week using shampoo and a rinse. Leave the rinse on for about 2 to 3 minutes, then rinse it out. Afterward, towel dry your hair a little, then part the hair into sections and put rollers in your hair. Either let your hair dry naturally (takes longer), or use a blow dryer. Once you're done, your hair will look shiny, and you will have lasting curls that straighten as you comb your hair (don't use a brush). Under no circumstance apply water to your hair again, it will frizz up. If it rains, your hair might frizz, use rollers to keep it in shape. To maintain curl or wave, part your hair in sections (3 sections in the middle, 3 on the left side of your head and 3 on the right side of your head) and roll each part and pin. After taking it down, your hair will look glamorous. You can sleep with this better than sleeping with rollers. Remember, only wash your hair once a week. -

Try Nexxus Botanic Oil. It's about $10 a bottle, but it lasts. Heat about 1/4 cup in the microwave, and rub it into dry hair. Brush your hair through for about 5 minutes, and leave it on for a few minutes for deep conditioning. Then shampoo. When you're not doing this treatment, shampoo only the roots to avoid drying your hair out. Also, rub a good conditioner on the ends before you shampoo, and add more conditioner after you rinse your shampoo. And never underestimate the power of regular trims. -

I'm Arab, and have curly, frizzy hair. I used to use mousse, gel, and hair spray all at once. I weighed my hair down and it looked like it had no life to it. I went to a hairdresser who layered my hair. I reminded him that if he cut once inch off when wet, it would look 4 inches shorter. I now use hair oil, which you can pick up at most stores containing Arab products. The oil I'm using is actually a product of India. It tames my hair without giving it that lifeless wet look. It costs around $4-$7. It also works well with African American hair. Because I do wash my hair every day (let's face it, curly haired bed head sucks) this oil replaces the natural oils needed to tame frizz. -

Take a shower as you usually would. When you get out of the shower, comb your hair (don't use a brush), then scrunch some moose into it. Add a little hair spray and use a diffuser while blow drying. It's simple! -

My hair is really curly (too curly) and it's super dry because I live in Brazil. But I've found some great tips for when you're on the go. After you wet or wash hair, you should apply a curl definition cream (this cream helps frizz and keeps all your curls in place) then curl your hair with your fingers and let it dry. It's easy and doesn't take very long. But if you have a lot of hair like I do, then you can take a towel and squeeze the water our of your hair (without stretching the curls). -

Every time I want nice curly hair that is not frizzy, I take a shower using Dove extra Moisturizing Conditioner or any kind of good moisturizer, then wrap my hair in a towel. I then use "Lasting Curls" by Loreal Paris Studio Line and work the gel into my hair, but do NOT comb your curls with your fingers, just work it in like you would with shampoo. Then flip your hair over and use the hair dryer until it's completely dry. Remember not to comb your hair with your fingers, just scrunch. Then style it as usual. -

i am 14 years old, and I have really really thick, curly hair, so it was always hard to take care of it for me. I was experimenting with the wild beast and i found out that if i use detangler and comb/ brush it out. (when u use a brush use the ones that have balls at the end of each brissle) then you put "citreshine" in it. And most people last put hairspray in it, but thats not a good thing to use so many chemicals. -

I had my hair highlighted and my stylist asked me what brand of shampoo and conditioner I use. I told her it was Pantene and she said Pantene causes split ends and dries your hair out. I switched to Dove, and I love it. My hair is smooth and free of split ends. -

All the advice about not shampooing your hair too often works, but do condition it often. What helps give me the healthiest hair is using Joico's K-Pak line, especially the damaged hair treatment in the wintertime, and the daily conditioner in the summertime (or some alternating and mixing, depending on the climate). Believe it or not, I never rinse the conditioner out of my hair, not even the deep treatment! This helps a lot to control volume and keep hair soft and from getting too dried out. When air drying, whether sleeping on it or in the daytime, I put a bandanna on to keep the top of my head from going all to frizz (the worst), and this lets the rest of the curls and waves dry naturally. I know Joico is expensive, but somehow I only have to buy the 3-pk (shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner) once per year. It seems to last me forever. Also, in addition to leaving the conditioner in, I spray a leave in conditioner in to help keep it under control while drying. I don't usually have time to style my hair, so I don't know about too many products that can help even more in that regard, but I do focus on keeping my hair healthy. -

I just came across this fabulous tip by testing different products. Put baby oil in a spray bottle and spray it all over your hair. It makes the curls really curly and it doesn't look greasy (as long as you don't put too much in there). -

If you do not have time to air dry, buy a diffuser for the dryer. They are cheap. All you have to do is attach it to the end of the dryer, then flip your hair over the head and dry while bending. Use mousse or gel first though. When you're done, touch up any dry spots with wax, or gel. To prevent from overdrying, I suggest using Paul Mitchell's conditioner after washing the hair. You can buy it at hair salons, and it's rather expensive, but does miracles! -

I wear my hair in it's natural curly state. I'm not biracial. I use shampoos that don't contain SLS, which is drying. Sodium laureth/lauryl sufate is my no no. I don't shampoo too often, but I use conditioners every day to add moisture and keep my hair clean. If I need to clarify my hair, then I'll use a gentle shampoo like J/A/S/O/N aloe vera. I always use a creamy, leave-in conditioner, and I dry my hair by plopping it with a silk scarf. Plopping keeps my curls intact and doesn't frizz it up the way towels do. I always air dry or shake out the curls. -

I just started using the tip that suggests not to wash your hair every day, and it actually works! Especially with all the humidity there has been lately. My hair doesn't look greasy, just bouncy curls all over! I use KMS Curl Up products, you just have to know how much. If you put too much in it gets to be a little too greasy. I've tested probably every type of curling product out there and this one is the best, even if it's $15, it's worth it. Spray a little bounce back spray throughout the day and they keep looking like new. -

I'm a guy with mid-length curly hair that will frizz out easily. I have good results with this procedure...For conditioner, I use Bed Head Moisture Maniac after shampoo. I then rinse and add a tiny bit more after patting dry (on the ends and middle - not the roots). I get some Paul Mitchell foaming pomade (dime size amount). I flip my head up-side down and scrunch it in. Then after a few minutes, I add Catwalk Curls Rock (about a dime size) by rubbing the product on my hands, flipping my head upside down, and scrunching it in. Finally, I wait around the house trying to avoid doing anything that might awaken the frizz monster until it dries. It's a lot of work! All of the other tips I read for curly hair here pretty much work for me as well. -

Combing your hair in the shower is a great idea, but it works even better if you comb with conditioner in it. It detangles a lot more easily. Also, when you get out, blot out excess water and spray with Infusium 23 leave-in treatment. I mix 1/2 Infusium and 1/2 water to make it last even longer. It's about $6 but it lasts about 4 months. I also use it on the days I don't wash my hair. Spray the ends of dry hair and scrunch. -

1. Take a shower every other day. Your hair needs natural oils to keep your hair from frizzing. 2. For a wet, natural look: While your hair is wet, use light mousses and gels to keep your hair looking healthy and well put together. If you overdo the gel or mousse, your hair will look greasy and oily. 3.Do not blow dry your hair! Blow drying will turn your hair into a huge mess, and ruin your beautiful curls. 4. Care for your hair. Do not brush it too much, that will give you split-ends. -

Take a shower at night. Apply a curl boosting cream or gel, then put your hair into a messy bun. Be sure you don't smooth out the top part, just put it in a bun. Then, go to sleep. When you wake up, take your hair out of the bun. It will still probably be a little wet. Let it dry for 15 minutes, and then scrunch your hair with the same gel. You will have perfect curls. Your hair will however, feel a little bit crunchy. That is OK, your hair will stay in those prefect curls all day long! -

Believe me, washing your hair every day is NOT a good idea, because I did, and my hair became VERY dry. It ruins the fibres of your hair, if you wash too regularly. Wash once every 3 days. -

let it naturally dry... or in the winter stand next to the firplace.. that'll dry faster without the fros n' splitends. then when it's semi dry.. a little damp.. put some aloe vera gel (for mosquito bites) on the ends and then slowly work your way up to your scalp. presto, n your done and it doesn't feel greasy or overdone. just nice! -

As many have recommended, air drying is best. But air drying can take a long time. If you have things to do, wet hair smacking you in the face can be very bothersome, and constantly pushing your hair back will destroy the curls around your face. I like to use a hair net ( nothing fancy, 3 for a dollar at the grocery store). You just stuff your hair in it and let it dry and out come smooth ringlets ( you should push it back a little from your hairline, otherwise it can look a little smooshed).
