As many have recommended, air drying is best. But air drying can take a long time. If you have things to do, wet hair smacking you in the face can be very bothersome, and constantly pushing your hair back will destroy the curls around your face. I like to use a hair net ( nothing fancy, 3 for a dollar at the grocery store). You just stuff your hair in it and let it dry and out come smooth ringlets ( you should push it back a little from your hairline, otherwise it can look a little smooshed). -

brushing or combing dry hair only adds to frizz problems. instead, comb your hair with your fingers while it's still wet to untangle strands. or even better, do it while you're in the shower. -

I have been using Finesse conditioner on my very thick, wavy hair for 20 years. It's inexpensive and absolutely keeps things smooth. Although I pay very top dollar for a cut, I have no shame in buying this grocery store brand b/c it's the best and that's what matters. People look at me funny or make a comment when I try anything else (even very $$ salon conditioners). -

Sleep with your hair braided. One or two braids will do. This helps to keep your hair shiny, and it also prevents tangled hair. In the morning just take the braids out and leave it at that. Apply a hair cream and it will stay down, and look healthier. I do it everyday, and at last three times a week I get compliments about my hair. Also, try to use it braided during the day, a few days a week, this protects the hair from the sun and dust. -

Believe me, washing your hair every day is NOT a good idea, because I did, and my hair became VERY dry. It ruins the fibres of your hair, if you wash too regularly. Wash once every 3 days. -

Wash and leave hair to dry a bit. Add some leave in conditioner and/or styling balm. Then pile it at the top of your head so that when you sleep it isn't going to leave an uncomfortable bump. Use a loosly wrapped scrunchy to gather all of you hair. Tuck hair in or leaved it out for different looks. The tucked look with leave waves and the left out look will give you curly. -

My hair is frizzy and "stupid" so I usually put it up in a pony tail...not a high one, just one as low as I can get it. I leave it up until I'm ready to head out. After doing this, it seems much thinner and less frizzy :) I also use a flat iron before I put it in the pony tail. -

Every time I want nice curly hair that is not frizzy, I take a shower using Dove extra Moisturizing Conditioner or any kind of good moisturizer, then wrap my hair in a towel. I then use "Lasting Curls" by Loreal Paris Studio Line and work the gel into my hair, but do NOT comb your curls with your fingers, just work it in like you would with shampoo. Then flip your hair over and use the hair dryer until it's completely dry. Remember not to comb your hair with your fingers, just scrunch. Then style it as usual. -

Umberto Gianini's Curl and Twirl products are a little pricey, but they absolutely work. They have changed my life. My hair is CRAZY, but this tames it. You don't need a lot to work with. Believe me, it's worth the investment! You can get it at Rite-Aid! -

Once out of the shower, comb through your hair. Add a tad of gel or Frizz-ease hair serum. Then, believe it or not, re-wet your hair in the sink. This makes your curls springier and saturated with water, which is what curls love. Do NOT towel dry. Just pinch the ends of your hair with a towel to get rid of the drips. Distribute the hair serum generously in your hair, but do not run your fingers through the hair. This will only separate curls and cause them to frizz. Instead, pinch segments of hair with the serum and twirl the hair into curls. Spray them with hair spray. Wait 5-10 minutes (put on makeup, iron your clothes, etc.) then dry your hair with a diffuser on low heat. It works for me every time. -

Over the years, I have tried several products and have finally settled with the following: VO5 shampoo and conditioner, Paul Mitchell styling mousse, and for deep conditioning, hair cholesterol and coconut oil. I have very long, thick, and extremely curly hair and the above products have helped me manage it. It is a regime that I have followed for quite some time now. I would recommend, if anything at all from the above, the Paul Mitchell Mousse. It isn't heavy on the hair, leaves no residue, and smells great! I wash my hair 1-2 times a week and comb my hair in the shower (never when it is dry). I towel dry it and put the mousse in while it is still damp and then allow my hair to air dry. Between my weekly washes, I touch up my hair (to give it a fresh look every day) with a little bit of coconut oil, but more often with an alcohol-free gel. I just use a spray bottle filled with water to dampen my hair a bit, then rub some gel (or oil) on my hands and apply it gently to my hair. I hope that this becomes useful to any of my fellow natural 'curlies' out there and suggest that you don't use a bunch of new products at once. Rather, use one at a time...It saves money and saves on hair disasters :) -

unless your are willing to blow dry your hair straight every day, it's best to have your hair cut straight across the bottom rather than layers. Layers are meant to add volume to flat limp hair, and you dont want volume, believe me. Curly hair is great by itself you dont need a fancy haircut to make it look great. Be sure to only brush your hair when it is wet! Brushing it when its fry will make it loose all the curls and you will end up with frizz. Good luck -

Take a shower at night. Apply a curl boosting cream or gel, then put your hair into a messy bun. Be sure you don't smooth out the top part, just put it in a bun. Then, go to sleep. When you wake up, take your hair out of the bun. It will still probably be a little wet. Let it dry for 15 minutes, and then scrunch your hair with the same gel. You will have perfect curls. Your hair will however, feel a little bit crunchy. That is OK, your hair will stay in those prefect curls all day long! -

Take a shower as you usually would. When you get out of the shower, comb your hair (don't use a brush), then scrunch some moose into it. Add a little hair spray and use a diffuser while blow drying. It's simple! -

I have red, curly hair, and I thought that if I kept it long my hair would be less pouffy. I was wrong. I just got it cut, and it is layered. Even though it is a bit pouffy, it is less frizzy, and has character. I love it! Embrace your curly hair. It is unique and memorable, it's how I stand out. -

You've probably heard the tip about braiding your hair at night in one or two braids. Well, if your curls are frizzy, put some gel in your hair before you braid it. The next day, your hair looks great and it stays like that due to the gel. I used all kinds of different gels with this technique and it doesn't make my hair stiff. I wore this look to my brother's graduation and it really worked out. -

I have to say, it is very hard for me to find something to tame my hair as I am mulatto. My hair is thick, like a swarm of ringlets that cannot be brushed, and it is dry. The absolute best alcohol-free thing I use is fabric softener. After I wash my hair, I spritz it on and comb it into my usual style. Pick a quality brand (like Snuggles or Fleecy) as some cheaper brands don't seem to work as well and they don't smell as nice. On wet hair I spray it on full strength but for dry hair use 1 part fabric softener and 2 or 3 parts water in a spray bottle. It protects from dryness, holds the curls nicely and makes them shiny! -

My hair is a total disaster! Its frizzy, thick and wavy. I always wore it up in a pony tail because it looked horrible down, but later someone told me that it makes your hair frizzy if you use rubber bands, so now I put clips in my hair. Try using Salon Selective mousse and hair spray. My hair isn't even frizzy any more. Also drink tons of water, 8 glasses a day. -

Moisture is the key to beautiful curls. Find a good conditioner, because well conditioned hair will give more defined curls and prevent any frizz. Also use a wide toothed comb rather than a brush to detangle hair, it also lessens frizz. -

When shampooing your hair (with a good moisturizing shampoo), really massage it into your scalp. Then mix 1 egg, 1 part mayonnaise and 1 part olive oil into a paste and apply to hair. Wrap up hair in a warm damp towel and leave for 10-15 minutes, not too long or hair will be greasy. Wash your hair again, and condition with a deep moisturizing conditioner. Rinse with cold water (as cold as you can stand) and avoid towel drying your hair or brushing it when it's wet. Apply a small amount of serum and blow dry using cold air. -

When you get out of the shower, wrap your hair in a towel. Leave it up for about 5 to 10 minutes, or until it dries a little. Comb the hair on top (not bottom) and tie in a pony tail as low as possible. Let dry and remove. Frizz is gone. A conditioner for dry hair works best. -

I wear my hair in it's natural curly state. I'm not biracial. I use shampoos that don't contain SLS, which is drying. Sodium laureth/lauryl sufate is my no no. I don't shampoo too often, but I use conditioners every day to add moisture and keep my hair clean. If I need to clarify my hair, then I'll use a gentle shampoo like J/A/S/O/N aloe vera. I always use a creamy, leave-in conditioner, and I dry my hair by plopping it with a silk scarf. Plopping keeps my curls intact and doesn't frizz it up the way towels do. I always air dry or shake out the curls. -

Occasionally, use coconut oil on your hair before washing it. Take some coconut oil and heat it (microwave it for about less than a minute). Remember to check if the oil is too hot for you and also remember that the scalp is more sensitive. Be very careful with how hot the oil is. Use a comb to split your hair. Use a fluff of cotton to apply the oil on the scalp. Apply it also on the ends of the hair. Finally, wash your hair with cold/lukewarm water. -

1. Take a shower every other day. Your hair needs natural oils to keep your hair from frizzing. 2. For a wet, natural look: While your hair is wet, use light mousses and gels to keep your hair looking healthy and well put together. If you overdo the gel or mousse, your hair will look greasy and oily. 3.Do not blow dry your hair! Blow drying will turn your hair into a huge mess, and ruin your beautiful curls. 4. Care for your hair. Do not brush it too much, that will give you split-ends. -
