I can't wait to try it. You'll be informed! lol. My son is two and I was wondering if anyone thinks that is to young to start with this technique. I don't want to be overbearing and make it not fun but I am determined to get him into the baseball life.

There is no such thing as a rising fastball, the illusion of a "rise" is caused by the pitch not dropping as much on it's way to the plate. The only "true" rising fastball is one thrown by a side-arm pitcher that actually throws the ball on an upward trajectory. This has been documented via high speed camera.

Yea about the 11 year old who throws 65. thats nothin you would be suprised how many 11 year olds throw that hard and harder than 65. My lil bro is 10 years old and he was gunned consistently at 68-71 last year in cooperstown new york. The thing is hes big now but everyone will catch up it always works that way. Throwing that hard doesnt make you successful its what you do with your other 2 pitches. You need at least 2 other pitches to be successful.

The true secret to an explosive fastball is your mechanics. If you perfect them, you will notice a difference. Never think that anything you see here on this page will instantly improve your fastball... it all takes time. Running and forearm exercises are the best things that you can do. Do NOT bulk up your arm (IE: biceps, triceps) because all the extra muscle will just slow down your arm motion. No matter how you throw it, do not think about speed. Do not try to find it because it will find you. note: the "11" year old who throws 65 will for sure be in the majors one day

To throw a neat sinker/splitter. Take your basic two-seam grip, now move your pointer/middle fingers outside of the two seams. Next drop your thumb out from underneath the ball (I like to the left). Throw like a regular fastball, should provide you with 4 to 5 inches of drop just before the batter drives it into the ground! Enjoy! Note: This pitch works quite well for pitchers with big hands.

Place your index and middle finger on the seams at which they are the closet together in the half way point. Here is the part on placing your thumb; keep it gently on the 2 seams on the other half of the ball. When you throw the ball slightly snap your wrist.

Grip it like a 2-seam, but bring the index finger to the center and the middle finger around the ball. Put a lot of pressure on the middle finger and just snap your wrist.

To practice a fastball, start with a forum-seam or two-seam grip. You should know how to do those grips. Then, to throw it, throw the ball as hard as you can. Still aim your fastball with your glove before throwing, then the ball will go where you pointed your glove 99% of the time.
