Comments on How to Get an Eyebrow Piercing

  • PoopHitsFan Aug 06, 2008
I got my eyebrow pieced about three days ago at very professional, very clean local shop. It didn't bleed at all, or swell. Last night i was cleaning it gently with a cotton cloth and H20 saline solution when it started bleeding. It bled all night and has not stopped this morning. The piercer i went to is not answering his phone and there are no other local shops i trust. What is going on? Why wont this **** stop bleeding?

I got my eyebrow done a month ago, i love it. Except at work i have to wear a bandaid to cover it up. I went to an amazing tattoo and piercing place to get it done, and it only cost me 20 dollars. That even included the price of the jewelery. I know that sounds really cheap, and it was, but it was also one of the best places possible to get it done. They were all very professional and the guy who pierced mine had been doing it for at least 10 years. He recommended using Sea Salt on mine. As in pouring a little bit in hot water and mixing it together. And using a Q-tip to clean around the piercing. Mine is healing very well.

DEFINITELY DON'T DRINK! I haven't made that mistake with any of my piercings, but I did with one of my tattoos. I have never had a problem getting tattooed before or since, but for one of them I went in hungover from the night before. Not only did it bleed a lot, it was about 10 times more painful & I became nauseous & just about passed out 3 times. NOT a good experience or a wise idea.

i got my eyebrow pierced about a month ago. im only 15 and a huge wimp when it comes to needles! the piercing didn't hurt at ALL. i mean im not gonna lie, i did "feel" it going in...but it wasn't a painful feeling, it was more reliving to have it over with. i think they look good on guys and girls(me being a girl) i had not bruising, only very very minor swelling. i would deffinatly recommend buying H2ocean to clean it with. its super easy and keeps the piercing very clean. it comes in a spray can and all you have to do is spray it on once or twice a day. well eyebrow piercings are deffinatly awesome, and don't let people talk you out of getting one. its now my new favorite part of me!!!! :D

I got my eyebrow pierced about 5 weeks ago. I had been wanting to do it for a long time and finally decided to just go for it. I bought the jewelry on ebay. I went ahead about bought 6 pieces: 1 barbell with 3mm metal balls, 1 barbell with 4mm balls with clear rhinestones, 1 ring with captive bead with clear rhinestone, 1 plastic retainer, and 1 barbell with a dangling jewel (I have NEVER seen anyone with one that dangled before). All items were 16G and with the exception of the retainer, stainless steel. I paid only $15.00 for ALL of that jewelry from the same seller, including shipping! I got pierced by my friend who is a piercer at a shop in town. He sterilized my jewelry for me in the autoclave machine. The charge for the piercing (including sterilzation) was only $30. He was my friend, so I tipped him $10. I knew I had saved a lot of money anyway. I decided to use the barbell with the 4mm balls, which was a pretty good choice. However, for girls, it is more flattering to use the smaller 3mm balls (my friend used my 3mm and hers looked much cuter than mine I thought). DON'T use the spiked barbells for your first time!!! You WILL catch it on everything, and it will aggravate your piercing something terrible! I had read that it wasn't going to hurt. Maybe it was because I was expecting it not to hurt that I felt it hurt a helluva lot. I donate blood (big hollow needles--like the ones they pierce with--into the inside of your arm at the elbow) all of the time and the piercing hurt 20 times worse! It throbbed and was sore all that day and part of the following day. My piercing didn't give me hardly any instructions. I had to ask him what to clean it with! (He was probably just being a badass because he's my friend.) He suggested generic brand saline solution for contacts (not the multi-purpose kind--very important). I asked him about soaps and he said saline was the absolute best thing for it. I went to the shop's website and read that you can also use Neosporin during the first 5 days. I used the Neosporin + Pain Reliever kind. It was great to use because not only did it moisten the area but it also helped reduce soreness. I cleaned mine twice a day, sometimes 3 times a day with that stuff and didn't have any problems. There was no blood, no crusties. Absolutely nothing. Until I decided to start changing out my eyebrow ring after only 3 1/2 weeks. Not a good idea. I put the spike in (which had been sterilized and kept in a sealed bag), but I like said earlier I kept hitting it. My eyebrow was extremely aggravated so I put in the dangle piece, which had not been sterilized. That was fine but it got boring, so then I put in my hoop. The hoop was suprisingly comfortable and I kept that in for about a week with little problems. Now, however, I have a knot underneath my eyebrow. I'm not sure if it is serious or not because it doesn't really hurt, but I blame it on my changing jewelry WAY too early. My advice? Keep in your original jewelry for as long as possible! When you take out jewelry and put other jewelry in you are exposing yourself to new bacteria. If I hadn't changed out my jewelry so much and so early, I'd probably be a lot closer to healed right now! To summarize (since this is long): *Check with your piercer to see if they will sterilize outside jewelry. *Buy your jewelry on ebay to save money. Buy 16G, stainless steel barbells or hoops. *Girls should opt for 3mm balls, guys for 4mm. *Do NOT use spiked barbells until you are healed! The spikes will catch on EVERYTHING! *It does hurt, but it's not the worst pain in the world. Just try to relax and breathe. *Buy generic saline solution for contacts to clean your piercing twice a day. It's cheap, and that's all your really need. The Neosporin + Pain Reliever is great to use during the first few days after the piercing to moisten the area and help reduce soreness. *Keep in your original jewelry for as

I got my left eyebrow pierced with a stainless steel 16 gauge curved barbell about a week ago. It cost $60, and an additional $7 for the aftercare package and some money to tip the piercer. The piercing itself didn't hurt one bit; just relax, breathe in and out slowly and steadily, keep your eyes closed, and you won't feel it at all. I honestly think that getting my ears pierced hurt a lot more. Yeah, the needle goes in kind of slowly, but it's not really painful or uncomfortable. Do research on the piercing parlor you go to before you get it done - make sure they're clean, reputable, and experienced. I rinse it with Bactistat soap (0.3% triclosan) every morning, and then soak it in warm sea salt water (taste it to make sure it's not stronger than your tears) every night for 5 minutes. It's never bled, reddened, swelled, crusted, or gotten infected, not even when I first got it. Anyway, it looks great and I've gotten lots of compliments for it; I highly recommend getting it done if you're thinking about it.

I've been wanting my eyebrow pierced for 6 years and I finally got it done last week. I had my friend pierce it using a clamp and a 16 gage tribevel needle. It did hurt a bit, like a really strong pinch when she put the needle in, but afterward I could barely remember I had got it pierced. I bled a bit at first, and I got nauseous because she told me to breathe in, but instead I held my breath, but that soon subsided. I love it! I clean mine with Dial antibacterial soap, and salt water, and no problems as of yet. I recommend getting it done, but always remember to take care of it, because you don't want to put forth hard earned money and lose it over an infection.

Do not use ointment, alcohol, peroxide or scented soaps. Clean twice daily with antibacterial soap and give piercing a sea salt soak (sea salt soak= pinch of non-iodized sea salt and warm water). For oral piercings I recommend that if you must smoke; rinse with filtered water and use a non-alcohol based mouthwash after eating. Do not thin your blood by doing any of these prior to piercing or during healing: Drink alcohol, take aspirin, Tylenol (acetaminophen), Aleve (Naproxen Sodium), any type of amphetamine including ADD/ADHD medication, or even Vicodin and Percocet (which seem like a good idea). They too have blood thinners. Also, it will take a very long time for the piercing to heal. Even after you stop producing lymph (non-infected pus) you are not healed and removing the jewelery can cause the hole to close. One more thing, and that is to eat before getting a piercing. I did not think it was very important once, and lets just say; I was sorry. It will make you dizzy and possibly faint as well as give you a headache. You may be hardcore, but you still just stuck a hunk of metal through your skin and your body is going to do everything it can to get that piercing out. It can slightly lower your immune system temporarily too, since your white blood cells are busy at the site fighting infection. If you notice an infection or don't stop bleeding, go to your nearest emergency room and let them do what needs to be done; even if that means taking out your new piercing.

I cleaned mine every day with peroxide. I took it out one day for a couple of hours to let it breathe. I put the jewelry back in and now my eye is swollen, shut and infected...Don't let this happen to you!

Remember, if you think it's healed up it might not be healed as good as you thought. I've had mine for 8 weeks now, and last week I thought it was healed up so I took it out for school. When I got home I had to push the bar right through and open it again.

I got my eyebrow pierced a week ago, and the night before, I drank alcohol. The result the next day wasn't just the hangover, but during the piercing, I bled like a stuck pig! Alcohol is a blood-thinner, so my advice is to not drink alcohol before you get a piercing or a tattoo.

The guy who did my piercing said not to do anything to my piercing (specially the first month or so). He advised me to keep all makeup and hair products as far away from the piercing as possible, and not to try to wash it with anything. Specifically, he mentioned not to use bactine, alcohol, or anything with harsh chemicals, they actually slow the healing process. He was basically going with the "If it's not broke, don't fix it" method. If there's no infection or no sign of infection, leave it alone, and it will heal faster.

For any guys reading this, I've got one thing to say. Get an eyebrow ring. All the girls love them, and you'll get heaps of comments. They don't hurt, and mine never got infected.

I had my eyebrow pierced as a birthday present from my Mom. I don't like pain at all, but it only hurt for a second. Afterward I forgot it was there and kept hitting it, so be careful of that. If you want it done, go for it. Make sure you listen to the advice the piercer gives you, it helped me out a lot. Don't worry about it pussing, it does that sometimes, and salt water is heaven sent. Salt water helped so much and it feels so good to put it on. The best way to let it heal is to not clean it more than once a day, 2 times at the most, and let your body do the healing by itself. Be careful while taking off your shirt afterward. It was very painful when my clothes got stuck on it and I pulled. Try to get it done with a ring not a barbell. Barbells slow down the healing and are more prone to infections. Make sure that the piercer doesn't put the piercing in too deep, it can rub against your skull and cause migraines.

The easiest way to get any piercing to heal is by using Dial soap. You can use any antibacterial soap with triclosan as the active ingredient. These soaps are mild enough that they won't overdry or irritate the skin, but can kill any potential bacteria. If the skin is too dry or irritated, it will prolong the healing time. Apply a little bit of Bactine (active ingredien - benzalkonium chloride and benzocaine). This will kill any bacteria left behind by the soap, as well as numb the area a little bit. Wash twice a day, rotating the piercing through the soap and bactine. If you have sensitive skin, rubbing alcohol will overdry your skin. I've known people who have had problems with the metal studs and rings oxidizing after using hydrogen peroxide. Betadyne (povidone iodine) is too harsh and will encourage the formation of scar tissue. Soaking your piercing in a warm saline solution (1/2 teaspoon Epsom's salt for every 1/4 cup of water) will help draw out infection and reduce inflammation (as well as removing "crusties" in the least irritating manner). "Crusties" by the way, are totally normal, and not at all indicative of infection. It's just the fluid part of the blood that separates out and dries onto the piercing. Neosporin is good for tattoos, but not for a piercing. The petroleum jelly base keeps the piercing moist. Neosporin (if applied in too thick a layer) can actually trap bacteria that it doesn't kill. The antibiotics in Neosporin (bacitracin, polymyxin-b, and neomycin) are good for paper cuts, where you have one-time topical applications. A body piercing is too deep and sensitive for prolonged Neosporin usage. I have 21 piercings. My navel piercing is the only one I had any difficulty in healing.

I got my brow pierced one week ago. It bled when it was pierced. I wake up every day and there is dried blood around the piercing. The blood is becoming less and less as time goes on and the piercing heals. Just be careful if you are prone to bleeding a lot (like I am). My eyebrow bled much more than my belly button piercing.
