Use a hair net that complements your hair color. Put your hair up into a ponytail, then put on the hair net. If you wrap the hair net around enough times, then your hair will automatically start to curl. Continue to wrap your hair around the base of the pony tail, secure with pins. Add a cute scrunchie, and you're ready to go!

    1. Put your hair in a pony tail at whatever hight you would feel comfortable (personally I would say high is the best). 2. Plait your hair about half way down (or 3 quarters) do not put a scrunchie at the end of your plait. If anything, make sure you put a hair elastic in it. 3. Wrap the plaited part of your pony tail around the bobble at the top of you ponytail and leave the unplaited part sticking out. Put a scrunchie around your bun. 4. With the little bit of tail that is left, put it around the bun and leave it. It makes a gorgeous competition bun. If you have short layers, then think about pulling some bits out of the bun!

I confess I brush my hair, but I don't straighten it up when it come's to messy buns! To make a nice messy bun: 1. Comb your hair (big!) 2. Pull your hair up like you would with a ponytail. 3. Twist your hair at the top. 4. Tie the your hair with 2 elastic bands. 5. Make sure little tiny hairs are sticking out.

I do competitive ballet 5 times a week so I have a few tips: When making your bun, start by making a high ponytail, separate into 3 sections, make three little braids out of that, then twist around elastic to create the bun. You can use a bun cover to cover your bun to make it neater.

Do not use a sock. Use a full scrunchie instead. Pull hair on top of your head and use a full scrunchie to secure. Gather hair around scrunchie and wrap the second scrunchie around it. Pull hair out from the middle to make it full and tuck remaining pieces underneath. You will get a perfect bun that looks super thick.

Take your hair and put it in a fun bun with a thin hair tie. Then take the ends and put them at the top of the bun. Last, take a scrunchie and put it around 2 times. Now you have a spiked bun.

Your hair makes it's own bun. All you have to do is twist. Just gather your hair in your hands, like you would for a pony tail, and twist. It takes two hands since you can't rotate your hand 360 degrees. After about a twist and half, my hair forms it's own coil. Just keep twisting and then secure the end piece with bobby pins or a chignon clip.

If your hair is long enough, turn your head upside down to pull hair into a high ponytail, but place the rubber band or scrunchies about an inch lower instead of flush to the head. This will make the hair below the bun pouf out a bit, giving you an old-fashioned Gibson Girl look. You can accent the effect by letting some tendrils frame the face and neck. This style never fails to get compliments from both men and women! When my hair is at a borderline length for a bun, I put it up wet, applying gel to the ponytail and twisting until it forms itself into a little spiral or knot, then securing with bobby pins underneath.

First of all, don't use mousse, as it both dries your hair and causes breakage, no matter how gently you handle it. Secondly, don't use silica gel unless you intend to clarify your hair immediately afterward. Silica coats the hair and will not allow moisture in the hair, thus making it weak and prone to breakage and split ends. It just isn't a smart practice. If you really want to care for your hair and make it look nice, use aloe vera gel (the kind some people drink; look in a health food store) as it is thick and stiffens the hair for a period. To defrizz, two drops of jojoba oil work better than normal defrizzers any day. Companies just want to sell you that crap so that you can buy more crap to fix the damage. It's shrewd business, but you understand. And lastly, I would choose my scrunchi over ouchless hair bands any day. The ouchless kind are either too thin or have glue holding it together. The glue frequently gets caught in the hair at odd places. Wonder why you have all of those fly aways? Yeah, that's it. Oh, and the only people who think that scrunchies are out, are the people that read Cosmo and can't figure style out for themselves. I always choose functionality over style anyway, but not a single person who knows me would call me out of style. Good luck!
