I've had acne for about a year now (sudden outbreaks) and tried everything. Toothpaste does shrink pimples, but it didn't make them go away or stop them from coming. When one got infected, I had no hydrogen peroxide so in desperation I swabbed a dental wound treatment (Peroxyl, with peroxide and alcohol) and covered the infected area with Neosporin Plus. The next day brought a noticeable improvement, and in days my face was almost completely clear (a few stubborn healers left, no new outbreak at all, and all of the whiteheads gone).

Take vitamin A and zinc, both of which you can buy at any health or vitamin store. Take these two together with food everyday for about two weeks, and your acne should clear up. Continue taking it and you shouldn't have any more acne breakouts.

Think about it...What do doctors do to clear up a cyst? They remove all the puss, then bandage it. Pimples should be treated the same way. You should only pop the pimple with a needle. This creates a small hole which gives a passageway for the puss to come out while minimizing the scarring. Make sure you get all of the puss out! If you don't, the pimple will cover it up and more puss will form. The infection should clear up in no time.

I know that for some of you, going to the dermatologist was a bad idea. My parents, too, never liked the idea of me taking antibiotics and using chemicals. But people were beginning to bug my parents to treat my acne and I was also getting annoyed with it so they finally took me. About 6 months later, it's SUCH an improvement. He started me on pills twice a day and that "benzoyl" stuff every night. Then he took me off the pills and I only use the cream at night and an applicator (like the bingo ones) in the morning. If only it wasn't for summer breakouts...!

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Use toothpaste, but not that much, or it will dry your skin. Don't worry about overdoing it...That's what moisturizers are for! =D

HYdrogen Peroxide works REALLY well! It gets all the bacteria out and helps the pimple heal. Ive been using it for a while and it really works!!!

I get a cotton ball w/ rubbing alcohol and rub it on my face when I wake up and once I come from school, and after I do something that gets me very sweaty. Don't overuse it. It can cause dry skin and actually make you get more pimples. 2-3 times a day is enough

I'm really prone to those painful, red, under-the-skin pimples. I've found that the best way to treat one is to wash your face, then put an ice pack on it for 10-15 minutes as soon as you notice it starting to develop. Before you go to bed, cover the area with a thick layer of zinc oxide cream-which is actually just diaper rash cream. By the time you wake up the pimple should be well on its way to healing. I usually repeat the whole procedure for two or three nights just to be sure. Zinc oxide cream works really well on any other kind of pimple as well. Also, if you have to pop your zits, I would suggest using an extractor. This is a little metal implement with a hole in either end, available at most drug stores. You just place the pimple in the centre of one of the holes, press down gently-and pop!-the pimple's zapped with a minimum of effort(and pain!).

ProActiv works. I've been using it for about a month and already it has helped so much. Just go to www.proactiv.com . ProActiv is kind of expensive and if you don't want to spend that much money you can try an at home remedy. Acne can't be treated but you can improve it. By living a healthy lifestyle you can reduce the appearance of your acne. Drink lots of water, exercise, and eat as healthy as you can.

A cream called Slicox base will reduce scars left from acne. Toothpaste burns the spot out too and will leave a scar use silcox base and it will make it go away.(i dont recommend using toothpaste in the first place) It is also a good moisturiser for any part of the body. And comes in a very big tub which is very cheap!

I've dealt with more than my fair share of acne, and tried nearly all the tips out there. I even tried going to a dermatologist, and what she prescribed only made the problem worse. I was lucky enough to find a book by Paula Begoun, "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me". After trying her recommendations, my face improved dramatically! I still have some acne, but it is so much better. I have oily skin, but here's what I do:
1. Wash my face morning and evening with Neutrogena's Fresh Foaming Cleanser. If my face is feeling dry (usually during the winter) I might substitute Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.
2. Moisten a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide (just the normal drugstore stuff) and use it like a toner, all over my face and especially on any pimpled areas. Works great for knocking out the bacteria that causes the pimples. Alternatively, if my face is still dry, I use Neutrogena's Alcohol-Free Toner.
3. Every other day or so, when I shower, I mix a small amount of baking soda with a litte Cetaphil cleanser, and very gently massage this paste all over my face, shoulders and chest. Works great as a gentle exfoliant, helping to remove the dead skin cells that can clog pores.
4. When a big pimple pops up, I apply a dab of benzoyl peroxide ointment (I use 10%, use whatever your face will tolerate). It's not instant, but over a few days it will help.
I highly recommend checking out what Ms. Begoun has to say. She has written a number of books on hair and cosmetics products. She also has a website: www.cosmeticscop.com. And no, I gain nothing by plugging her. I just want others to be helped as much as I was!

on 11/22/2005 Dab the blemish with a cotton swab dipped in patchouli or lavendar essential oils. Eucalyptus works just as well.
