I'm glad someone mentioned Tea Tree Oil. Not only is it wonderful for acne, but works on many other common problems as well. It is nature's wonder. Just make sure that it is 100% pure tea tree oil.

To make a face mask, get 1 apple (peeled and grated), 1 teaspoon of honey, half a teaspoon of cream, 1 teaspoon of ground oats, and half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mash everything into a smooth paste using a fork. Smear it on your face and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then rinse gently with cool water.

I use Proactiv and it works wonderfully for me. I had pretty bad acne before and then I started using it, now I only get one or two around the time of my period and that is it. I even was skeptical and stopped using it for a while to see if my skin was OK without it, and I started breaking out again. It is a little costly and it doesn't work for everyone, but it is great and it really does work for many people.

Toothpaste works and I know from experience, but you should try poking the white head with a sterile (hold it over a lighter for a couple of seconds) needle, but not too deep (just enough so that the toothpaste can suck up all the pus and whatever else is inside there). I tried that and it works a lot better. I would recommend it to anyone who uses toothpaste now. One more thing: Do not leave the toothpaste on for a long period of time because it can burn the skin.

I've tried so much stuff for acne but this helped mine and I hope it helps yours. First gently scrub your face with St. Ives face wash. I know it looks bad, but it works. Then dab the water off of your face. If you rub the water off with a towel then it is only putting more germs in your pores. Finally, with a cosmetic pad or cotton swab, apply rubbing alcohol on your face. Do not apply a lot of alcohol because and can dry out your face, you can apply it every other day.

Drink lots of water! Not only does it leave your skin soft and younger-looking, it also fights acne.

I have had acne for so long and tried so many products. Including Proactive, and honestly it didn't work. Proactive tried to sell me other products in order to help with my acne, but it also didn't help. So I had to cancel my subscription. Proactive is not for everyone.

For those really big, under the skin, third eye kind of zits, I've found out that if you use Ivory soap, rub it into your hand, make it really thick - almost into a paste - then dab on the blemish and let it dry overnight, it will be smaller. I promise!

Unless your skin is super-oily, always use a moisturizer after drying out your face. Sometimes your worst acne is on dry skin, so go easy on the alcohol.

Don't just sit there and sulk because you have acne, get out there and do something. ProActive works great for me. The three step process works wonders!

Most people like candy better than fruit (OK, I do), but fruit helps you a lot! Fruits taste better than candies (once you get used to it). Try to drink water instead of sodas. I know I'm sounding like your Mom or Dad, but this really works.

This doesn't help with preventing zits, but it is a simple thing to remember about popping them: never pop a zit unless it is white! Even the biggest, ugliest ones should have a little bit of white at the center. This means that the pus is at the surface and will actually come out if you squeeze it. If it's not white, don't pop the zit; just let it go away on its own. You'll only make your skin worse if you pop it, and possibly scar the area.

Use only oatmeal, not a soap that has oatmeal in it. Put it on your face, then wash it off when it has dried. It works.

The residues soaps leave behind clog pores. Use a face wash or a soap made for your face, like Neutrogena.

I am 14 years old and have had bad acne since I was 10 or so. I have tried everything. The only thing that has worked for me is PROACTIVE. My face has been almost clear for 2 months. I don't wear foundation anymore!

I have acne, and I used to think about it around the clock. My face would get really red and oily. My friend told me not to think about the acne, and to put baby lotion on my face. This advice is working great for me, it might for you! Remember, the more you stress about acne the worse it gets. You produce more hormones and your face will get red and oily.

If anyone was wondering where in the world to find tea tree oil, like I was, go to The Body Shop at your local mall where they have a wide range of products containing it.

Use cornmeal to exfoliate your face - it's awesome. It helps eliminate blackheads, and I rarely get any blackheads now because of cornmeal. Also, Neutrogena Clear Pore works really well in preventing breakouts.

It's time the gurus quit telling you not to pop. This could be unsafe if you have a serious outbreak. Clean well, use antibacterial soap, expell the culprit, and keep covered with antibiotic ointment and bandage.

I saw Oprah's show introducing eHow and tried tea tree oil. It's fabulous! I also cleanse my face twice a day using a face cloth and antibacterial Palmolive. It cleanses my skin beautifully and the tea tree oil is applied afterwards. But moisturize!

After showering splash your face several times with cold water. This will close the pores that the warm shower water opened.

What I have done is to stop drinking soda and opt for more nutritional and healthy drinks (like orange, apple, grape juice and so on). I haven't had a breakout for two years.
  • Nov 22, 2005
Don't touch your face after you've been touching something dirty (like money). Put a moisturizer on your face then use a little toothpaste or a cream with benzoyl peroxide.

Dab orange juice onto your face with a cotton ball. It works! Don't wash your face with harsh soap; keep your face moist, not dry.
