on 1/17/2007 I have three Chihuahuas, Elsie Comeere (pronounced come here, which she never does), Pinkie (for her pink nose, pink lips, pink ears inside and 10 pink nipples) and Toots (for Tootsie Roll because she was supposed to be brown, but turned out brindle). Check out http://di-ablog.blogspot.com for pictures and other interesting facts.

on 12/21/2006 To find a great pet name that's either origanal or classic but has a meaning behind it that could be the opposite or perfect match of your dog, I suggest going to http://www.petnamesworld.com/ it not only has dog names but cat, bird, ferret, guinea pig/hamster, mouse/rat,horse, even pig names!

on 12/21/2006 I love pirates of the caribbean. I found soo many names that could work for the dog related to pirates of the caribbean. Cappy (captain) Jack, Jackie, Sparrow, Tia(second movie), Pearl(pearl if white black pearl if black) Rum, and a lot more. Look in your favorite movie to find the perfect name.

on 8/8/2006 The nighttime sky is full of ideas for pet names. I once owned a Rottweiler named Canis Major, we called him Canus or Caine. I own a Chihuahua named Cassi (short for Cassiopeia). Also, think of what kind of other animal personality your dog has - I have a Rottweiler now named Oso (Spanish for bear).

on 8/8/2006 My fiancé and I are both huge sci-fi fans and have an eternal little battle over which of two particular shows are better. When he gave me my dog, I named her after a character from his favorite sci-fi show, and when he got his dog, he named her after my favorite show. The names fit the dogs personalities perfectly, plus it has extra-special meaning to us.

on 8/8/2006 Don't go for the average "Spot" or "Rover." That's so 18th century! Think of something fresh and new.

on 7/14/2006 Use your dog's color or markings to think of an item of the same colors. For example, if you have a white dog, Popcorn or Daisy might do, or Rusty for a reddish color.

on 6/30/2006 When you first get your dog, I think it's OK to wait a couple of days to see how the dog's personality and appearance feels to you, and choose a name from there. I named my dog Fred after three days of trying a few other names. I could see that he was exactly a Fred.

It's funny, because when people who stop to pet him ask his name and I reply "his name is Fred", they usually laugh and comment that he looks like a Fred. So, there you have it.

on 1/18/2006 When I got my first puppy I decided to name it Loki after the Norse God of Mischief. Unfortunately, Loki has grown to fit his name.

on 11/22/2005 Dogs instinctively pick up on the positive nature of words that end with an "ee" sound. Barney sounds much happier than Bruno, and dogs will appreciate the happy nature of their names when you call them.
