on 4/26/2008 I've heard that you should 'crush' rather than trim woody-stemmed flowers such as roses. What do you think of this? If you recommend this, what is the best way to crush the woody stems. The reasoning that I've heard for this is that it allows the stems to take up more water.

on 2/14/2008 Well, I usually give the fresh cut flowers filtered water, it's important to give them the best water also. After all, flowers are not really cheap.

on 2/14/2008 Great, timely tips for Valentine's Day. Thanks!

on 11/23/2007 One of the best pointers that I have learned regarding keeping flowrs fresh is to actually cut the flowers WHILE they are submerged in water - this way they immediately take a sip of water rather than air. this keeps them fresher, longer! Thank you for the article!

on 8/12/2006 I had an assignment for school and found out what works best. I tried these things:
bleach and an aspirin
water an a penny
lemon and lime bitter
lemonade
water
Water is the winner!

on 8/8/2006 Use 1 cup of 7Up and 3 cups of water, and add a penny. Be sure the stems of the flowers have been diagonally cut.
